Epilogue

Walking back to school the following day was rough. Lance was punched by what the school knew to be the "Keith stans" and Keith was getting constant messages of "I'm sorry about what you went through."

The following week seemed to prove rough for the boys, too. Keith was being asked out on dates from all sides. People felt sorry for him and they thought he felt sorry for himself too. Nobody believed that they were on better terms than before; and, even after it was common knowledge, nobody believed that Keith and Lance were dating.

Everything finally became evident at the only other large party of the year, Keith's birthday/end of the year party. His band was performing. The music got quieter and Keith sat behind the piano, which he couldn't play before. He played Can't Help Falling in Love, staring at Lance between every break in chords. Everyone was quiet when the finally realized:

"This, this is love."

Keith and Lance had a typical high school relationship. Short-lived and passionate, yet affectionate and romantic. It wasn't toxic or annoying, but they drifted apart after graduation. Like most high school relationships go.

Everything was done, and they were fine with it.

a/n: it's not done yet!! i wrote another epilogue after this part, so keep on reading :)
