"I hope you all got plenty of sleep. We have lots to discuss in class this morning. Many of you turned in the extra credit, and very few haven't. Let me remind you guys, it's your senior year, no more slacking. Next semester it'll be hard to catch up." Mr. Keith lectured with a grim smile, eyeing the sleepy kids in the back.I smiled to myself, my mood was on cloud nine. Senior year was going good so far, in just seven months I'd be on the other side of the world. Bobby nudged me. "Hey did you do the extra credit assignment?"
Was that even a question? After the fall out in class with Christopher, Mr. Keith had lowered my grade to a C for distrubstance. I watched Mr. Keith paced back to his desk, getting the roll call sheet out. I leaned to my side closer to Bobby who had his hair pushed back. "Of course, my ass is on the line."
Bobby laughed into his shoulder trying to keep quiet. "Do you mind helping me at lunch? Or do you wanna ditch again?"
Mr. Keith called out names, I shook my head no looking forward. "I can't, didn't you just hear the ted talk? No more slacking off."
"Clarke?" Mr. Keith coughed.
I smiled. "Present." he nodded checking my name off then resumed calling other names.
"Come on, if I don't pass, I'll have to stay after school just for the fall backs." Bobby gave me puppy eyes placing his hands together.
Part of me felt for Bobby, he had a lot on his plate, helping with his mom and younger sister. He was ditching classes just to get his mom her medicine. He was putting his future at risk so his mom can have a longer one. I took my government book out of my bag looking at him, he was frowning purposely.
I rolled my eyes fighting to smile. "Fine."
Bobby grinned widely. "Yes! Thank you so much Lexi."
Mr. Keith transitioned into today's topic. He cleaned the whiteboard and started to write today's agenda. "I have a worksheet, pairs of twos please. List all the federal systems, you can find that in chapter seven. I advise to stay on task, that way we can move on the next chapter." Mr, Keith made his way down each isle passing out the worksheets as Bobby turned his desk facing mine. "Partners?" He raised his eyebrows questionly.
I took the papers from Mr. Keith, matching my desk with Bobby's. "How was your break?" I asked getting comfortable laying my bag on the floor in front of my feet.
Bobby passed me a pencil. "It was loud, and fulfilling." he scribbled his name down.
"Mine was alright. Didn't really do much." I lied writing my name carefully on the line.
"I find that extremely hard to believe." He reached over of my government book.
"Why is that?" I asked intrigued.
"You just seem like you'd go out a lot with Daisy. She went everywhere, she put it on social media." He paused scanning the pages for federal systems. He bit the inside of his cheek a lot as he concentrated hard. His hazel eyes carefully squinting at the small print, reading inbetween the lines.
"Well I hung out with Connor." I explained as Bobby was already scribbling names down on the lines.
"You went to his party on Friday?" He asked showing me the answer on this paper.
I copied it. "No, I stayed home with my mom. She was already setting up for Christmas, can you believe that?" I laughed making Mr. Keith look at me. I hadn't spoke to Connor since my date with Harry. The next day I woke up to several messages asking if I was still a virgin. I didn't text him back only to add the suspense.
