"you can see him now. he's in room thirty eight. he's still on life support." the doctor said, which made june physically gasp.

"he's okay?" she asked, her voice shaky. alex nodded.

"it's hard to tell his state right now.

june didn't even know how to describe what she was feeling, but it was warm, and delicious. she cried even more, and she didn't even care. he wasn't dead yet.

the siblings immediately went to visit him. they almost sprinted to his room.

niall was attached to many wires and machines, making a steady beep sound. she went over to him, taking his hand. alex left the room for a few moments to let june have her alone time with him.

"hey, niall. i read online that people that're unconscious like... this— can hear the people talking, so, here we go. i'm so happy you're okay. i don't know what i'd do without you. you're my rock, you're my person. i— i cant be without you. not that i've has you, like this." june looked at his closed eyes the entire time she spoke.

"i miss your smile, and your laugh, and the way your eyes light up when you talk to me. i already miss you so much. i can't wait for you to wake up." she continued.

🥀

june talked to him, every day he was unconscious. they left him on the life support. this went on for two weeks. on one final day, the doctors came to the heartbreaking conclusion that they were going to pull life support. as much as june begged, there was nothing they could do.

so, she sat there, looking dull. she went into his room again. he looked dead. face paler, eyes still closed.

"niall, come on, you gotta pull through today. i still believe in you, i've always believed in you."

the day went on, and it soon became the time. they were pulling his life support.

june was still in the hospital room, crying over him.

"niall, please. if there was a miracle you could pull, now would be a great time." she prayed. she hadn't had much experience with praying, but she tried. she put her hands together, and closed her eyes, because that was how she's seen people do it before.

"god? uh— yeah— if you can hear me, please, help a girl out. if he dies, i don't know what i'd do. so—please, grant me this one favor, and i won't bother you again for awhile, hopefully. and i'll even give you a favor back, i'll start going to church, every sunday. i really think... i really think i love him. like, actually love him. he's just so perfect for me, he's perfect. i— come on. please. alright, bye." june whispered to herself, looking back up at niall, who was still unconscious.

"fuck you god—"

a beep of machines interrupted her, and a bunch of nurses ran into the hospital room.

"he's stable! fully stable! it's a miracle!"

she wish alex could've been here, but he was cluelessly shopping at tesco to grab her food.

june smiled, the first time she'd genuinely smiled since the incident. her shaky hands dialed alex's number, and she tapped her foot rapidly on the ground when it rang. he picked up, and she just couldn't stop smiling. she was happy to deliver this news.

"is everything okay? is niall okay?" alex asked quickly.

"he's stable, alex. he's going to be okay." she got out of the nurses ways, and she went in the hall. she heard cheering on the other side, and she knew alex probably looked like a psychopath in the middle of tesco, but she'd do the same.

"i'll be right there." alex said quickly, and then hung up.

june put her hands back together.

"god, thank you. you're a real one." she whispered.

🥀

alex was out in the cafeteria, and june sat by herself again.

"i hope you wake up soon. i— i love you niall. i love you a lot. and it sucks that this is the situation that had to show me that, but i really do love you. you make me feel so different, so special, so unique. you're... the best person in my life."

now she just had to find a way to tell him that when he was awake.

🥀

about two hours went by, and about ten minutes in the doctor told them he was going to wake up. he'd be okay.

when the once unconscious boy began to move, june almost fell out of her seat, feeling herself begin to cry again. she sniffled, wiping her tears.

niall's confused eyes opened again, eyes that she was so happy to see again. she always loved their color.

"hey, it's— it's really great to see you again." june whispered, her voice shaky as she wiped her tears from her eyes.

niall looked up at her, looking a bit confused.

"what—" he began, but his voice was too dry to continue.

"here, drink some of this." june took the water that she got from the cafeteria, bringing the straw to his lips. he took a sip, and looked better immediately. she smiled at him, a genuine sappy smile.

"i missed you so much." she muttered, taking his hand. his movement actually had life to it again, and that was all that june needed to make herself cry again.

niall detached their hands simply to wipe the tears from one side of her face, not able to reach the other side. she wiped them herself, and then their hands joined again.

"you were going to die, niall, you were going to die, and there was nothing i could do, or alex. i prayed and everything, and i've never done that before. i'm so happy you're okay." june said shakily.

"i'm happy i'm okay too, june. i could never leave you like that." niall spoke weakly.

june reached down and kissed him, feeling the electricity erupt in her chest again just like every time she did. he kissed her back, gently, as usual.

always gently.
