perfection; pyrocynical (niall comas)

chapter nine

june was with niall, resting her head on his shoulder as he edited his video. it meant he had to play a lot of clips of him talking on repeat about forty times as he trimmed it, but she didn't mind. she liked his voice.

she found herself zoning out, closing her eyes as she snuggled closer to him. he seemed to notice, looking down at her temporarily before back up again at his video.

"i'm pretty sure your entire fan base thinks you're psychotic." june mumbled, as she heard some of the things he was saying in the video. he let out a breathy chuckle.

"you'd be right. though they do just call me a fat lesbian, ninety nine percent of the time." niall shrugged, continuing on with his editing.

"well, damn." she laughed. "i think you're really funny, though. and i also think you're adorable, and not a fat lesbian."

he seemed caught off guard by her sweet remark, not used to people telling him this, she thought. he smiled, his eyes still lit up from the computer screen.

"i don't understand how you can sit through hours of editing the same video. especially one that's... an hour or more long." june looked up at his footage. she remembered watching his petscop video about three times over late at night before she went to bed one night. she loved it, it made her mind race with questions that she thought about nonstop.

"it's sort of like sitting through an office job. but it's definitely worth it." niall said back. june chewed on her lip, looking down as she nodded slowly.

"it must be cool to be popular like that." june mumbled after a few moments of neither of them saying anything.

"well, you're pretty popular too. you're alex's sister, after all." niall looked down at her. she shrugged.

"it's not that cool. i barely have a name, other than 'alex's little sister.' i'm a nobody." june was still looking down. niall put his finger under her chin, gently moving it so she was looking at him.

"you're a someone to me. you have a name to me." niall looked into her eyes. "you're not just 'alex's little sister.' you're june marie elmslie." the blonde's words struck her heart, making her smile.

"you're so amazing." june moved up to kiss his cheek, and then smiling when a small blush formed onto his cheeks. he continued editing the video from there, a big smile on his face.

they were both so thankful for each other.

june stayed with niall for another hour, before she went out into the kitchen to eat, chewing on a granola bar as she scrolled through her phone. she chewed on her bottom lip, her mind going back to niall's words constantly.

she was a somebody in his mind.

she swung her legs as she sat there.

alex went through the front door, smiling excitedly.

"what're you so excited about?" june asked, raising her eyebrow as a confused look was on her face.

"i have a surprise for you." alex replied, before a girl stepped through the door that made her drop her phone.

it was alex's girlfriend, ani, who was also one of june's closest friends. they hadn't been able to see each other in a long while, as she was always moving and traveling. she immediately squeaked, running over to ani and hugging her tightly. ani simply laughed, hugging her back.

"i missed you so much!" june yelled. ani and june were about the same height, so it was easy to hug her.

"i missed you too, junie b jones." ani replied with a small smirk, which made june roll her eyes and smack her arm.

niall and jake came out of their rooms, niall a few minutes before. he smiled at ani, waving to her. jake came out of his room next, nodding at her as he smiled a bit.

everything felt so perfect, now that her best friend was here.

"so, what's been going on?" and asked excitedly, ready to hear every detail about what's happening in june's life now that she was here.

"so, i've gotten really close to niall. i sort of have... something for him. i can't really tell what it is, though." june shrugged, looking down.

"ooh! you like niall?" ani teased.

"that's the thing. i don't know what it is. it's... weird." june sighed softly.

"don't worry, girl. you'll figure it out. for now, have your fun."

one reason june was proud to call ani her best friend, was because she was so supportive of her. june could tell her she was going to become a stripper (which she never would, obviously,) and ani would tell her that she'd support if it made her happy.

"i missed you, a fuckton." june laughed, spinning around in her barstool.

"i missed you to—" ani went to spin, but she was cut off as it didn't spin. it seemed to knock all of the breath out of her, as june giggled.

"that one doesn't spin." she snickered, watching ani scowl playfully.

alex came out of his room, seeing the two girls talking with a smile.

"well well, look who it is." he said, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend from behind.

"what're you guys talking about?" he asked curiously.

"june is having boy problems, and you guys need to fix this barstool so it can spin." ani responded.

"boy problems, with... niall?" alex questioned, a knowing smirk on his face. june swore he could read her mind, like some telepathic twin powers she never knew about.

"shut up." june smacked his arm, rolling her eyes.

"oh, so yes." alex nodded.

"well, i mean, niall is definitely... interesting. but once you get to really know him, he's something amazing. also, i think he feels something for you, too. he's always talking about you when he's not around you. he always has this stupid happy smile on his face, like he's daydreaming." alex shrugged, looking up at her as his arms were still wrapped around ani.

june's lips turned up as she listened. "i want... something to happen. but at the same time, 'something happening' sounds fucking terrifying." she ranted.

"he's gonna have to suck it up, grow some and make his move, or you'll have to do it." ani cut in, and alex nodded.

june thought about this for a few moments, chewing on her bottom lip. "hm." was her only response.

alex and ani soon left, going back to probably fuck or something, she didn't really care. she kept thinking about ani's words, though.
