A week or so passed before there way any word of (y/n). I had no idea she was even back until I heard a knock at my door. I got up from my desk and opened the door with a smile.
"Well if it isnt my favorite former Icicle."
"Oh my god Nick!!"
I pulled her into a tight hug as she continued to laugh.
"God I missed you Nick! You wouldnt believe how boring it is down there."
"Im just glad your back! Normally a trip to the institute is a one way trip."
"Well I'm back arent I?"
"Indeed you are."
I took her in as she told me all about what she had seen and heard, about a lock down and how she met her son.
"So your son is not a kid anymore huh?"
"No...and from what I've heard he dying.."
"Oh (y/n)...Im so sorry to hear that."
"It's ok I guess. Its just that he wants to leave me in charge of the entire Institute." She looked up at me with sad eyes "but...I dont think thats what I want...I mean I'd be the new person for the people of the Commonwealth to fear..."
"Have you told this to anyone else?"
"Yes...The only reason I'm back is because Shaun wants me to kill Desdemona."
"The leader of the Railroad?"
"Yes...and I cant do that! Theyre good people down there! I....I have no choice besides betraying her or betraying my son and launching a full attack on the institute."
"Both choices lead up into a massive amount of deaths...but (y/n), this is your choice to make."
"I know Nick...its...its just such a hard choice to make." She hung her head low, trying to debate both of the choices she'd been presented with.
Y/N POV
God...what the hell was I supposed to even do at this point...I knew which choice was probably the correct one. I knew which choice would be best for Nick and I. And destroying the Institute would be freeing for the commonwealth. A world where you dont have to worry about being snached and worrying your neighbor is against you. It would seem like the best choice for everyone involved. Well, except the institute that is. But...if I order an evacuation...then everyone can get out before it's too late! I had my mind made up. Now, it was just time to put it into action.
