As the two of you approached the Nakano home, your heart started to rush. Nick had already gotten ahead, typical confident swagger in his step. His confidence urged you to keep up, and you pushed your thoughts aside. This family needed help, and thats what mattered most right now. You playfully ran and got ahead of Nick, laughing as you approached the doorstep. "C'mon Nick, you'd better catch up or I might just take all the credit for a case solved." You smirked, hand resting on your hip as Nick started up the steps to the home. "Well (y/n), technically speaking, youre MY partner. Meaning that I'm in charge here, getting all the credit." "Surrrrre Nick. I bet youre just worried I'm getting better than you at your own job." You pushed open the door to the home, hearing a worried mother and angry father. Nick followed close by you, approaching the couple. "I um...hope you dont mind. We let ourselves in." The father, whom you learned was Kenji Nakano, Kasumi's father. Kanji immediately explained the situation. You listened in closely, taking note of any important details. Once the couple explained the situation, you decided it best to scope out Kasumi's bedroom, and favorite places. Project holotapes were scattered about, each explaining a project. But...something seemed to be missing. You and Nick went out to the nearby boat house. "I feel like something might be here (y/n). Keep your eyes open." He looked around outside, while you studied the inside. Laying on the safe was from Kasumi's grandfather, whom you had learned was the one who taught Kasumi how to fix things. He'd passed a while back.
"My Dear Kasumi,
If you ever get locked out of the safe, the answer is here in the boat house.
Picture where the key is.
Love,
Granddad.""Hey Nick! I think I mightve found something." Nick walked in, taking the note from you and looking it over. "Picture where the key is eh? That means something." He looked on the nearby desk, at a picture of a lighthouse. "Its this." You walked over, picking up the photo as a key tumbled out of the frame. "Nick youre a genius!" You took the key over to the safe, quickly unlocking it. Nick appeared rather flattered by your compliment. Inside the safe was a final holotape.
"Project log. Um...Myself. I never really thought about who or... what I am, but... God, where do I start? The radio. I was right about the range. I managed to get a signal. A strong signal, from up north. There's a group of people there. They say they're all , synthetic people. Made by . They're trying to build a place for their kind. Where they can be themselves and be accepted for what they are alongside human beings. It sounds wonderful, but... then they started asking about me. And some questions came up. Questions I don't have answers to. I mean... I've always felt... off... like I'm not really supposed to be here, but then there are things in my childhood that I can't remember, and I've been having strange dreams... I... I'm going to go. To meet with these synths. I... I have to know the truth about myself. They've told me to sail up North to a town called . I can make my way to them from there."
You looked at Nick, eyes wide. "Nick...your thoughts..?" "We need to tell the Nakano's this immediately. This is unlike any other case I've heard of."
