"You're home early." Lauren smiled as I walk through the door

"Yeah I know." I smiled back. "Michael let me go home early again because Gary rang him and told him about yesterday and that apparently means I have to go home early." I rolled my eyes.

"Now we have even more time to get ready for the party tonight!" She squealed, jumped up and down and clapped her hands like an excited little girl.

"Yeah I guess." I said smiling. "Wait what time does it start again?" I asked.

"Oh my god, do you ever listen?" She asked rolling her eyes. "It starts at eight."

"That's in like four hours." I said realising I had so much to do.

"Yes well, lucky for you I've already showered and what not so that means I don't actually have that much to do." She smiled at me.

"God sake it's going to take me hours to get ready." I complained.

"Can I just say, you seem in an unusually good mood today." She smirked at me. "What did you and Gary do this morning?" She asked.

"I don't kiss and tell." I laughed tapping the side of my nose.

"Somehow I think it was more than just kissing." She winked at me.

"Lauren!" I screeched. "You're so dirty minded." I scolded her. "Anyway, I need to go take a shower ready for this stupid party." I rolled my eyes walking up stairs.

"If I was you, I'd make sure it's a cold one." She said back, I just ignored her and walked into the bathroom.

"Katie come on!" Lauren shouted up to me.

"Be patient!" I called back down.

"We're going to be late!" She called back up to me.

"I'm trying to get these stupid boots on you let me borrow!"

"Well if you don't get them on soon I will make you wear something else." She threatened.

"Yes Lauren, anything you want Lauren, blah blah blah." I mumbled to myself. "Haha! Got them on!" I called down in victory.

"Good! Now get down here before I leave without you!" She threatened again.

It's easier walking when I'm drunk than wearing this I thought as I made my way down the stairs putting all my concentration into not falling down them.

"See, you look so beautiful in that costume, aren't you glad I made you get it?" She asked once I'd made it down without tripping or falling.

"To be honest," I started. "I feel stupid, Lauren his mums going to be there, I'm nervous enough as it is to see Marjorie again without having to worry about whether I'm going to fall over in these stupid boots at any point." I sighed.

"I thought you said his mum liked you?" She asked totally missing the point.

"Yeah she does, well she used to at least, how do I know she's not going to turn around not and absolutely hate me? Who says she's even going to remember me?" I sighed again as we walked up to the car.

"Look, if you and Gary were as close as you both say you were then I very much doubt she'll have forgotten you and why would she hate you?" She asked raising her eyebrow at me.
