(Sebastian's POV)
48 hours missing...
"So, you give her the money and she hands over Nyla. Then what? What's your escape plan?"
"I called in the real deal this time. They are the escape plan." I replied to Javier as he anxiously questioned me.
"And what about Nyla. How do you expect her not to get hurt?"
"We'll leave before they open fire." I shrugged. "You're way too calm about this. We don't even know if it'll work out."
"She said she would have her and we would do the exchange. There's nothing to worry about."
Even though I told him that. I didn't believe it. A million and one things could go wrong. I was scared but I'd never say it out loud. "And what about me?" He asked.
"Everyone should think you're dead. We don't know who else she has after us so it may be safer anyways. You'll go up to the safe house and work on disarming any tech from there."
"Lourdes will be there to keep a transmitting signal that you can work with."
"And what about you?"
"What about me? This is about getting Nyla out of this mess." I replied. "Alright. Let's try to figure out what we're going to tell her friends.
Javier and I spent most of the day trying to figure out where they could've taken Nyla and I tried to be as helpful to him as I could. I strongly refused to scratch his back though. Despite everything that was going on, I had a second to relish in the feeling of working side by side again. The thought of how it all ended the last time disturbed my mind.
I went home to make sure my dad was ready to get Javier out of there and I tried my best to hold it together. "Sebastian!"
My ears perked up when I heard my mother's voice. "Mum what are you doing here?"
"I had to see you. Aww, my baby are you alright?" She cooed. "I'm fine."
"You don't have to lie to me I know you're distraught."
For the first time in I don't know how long actual tears began to roll down my face as she tried to figure out how I was feeling. "All of this is my fault." I sniffled.
"This isn't your fault, mijo."
"I yelled at her and I accused her of being disloyal. What if-What if she dies and those are the last things I get to say to her?"
"All you can do is pray that it doesn't come to that. I want to smack you so badly for yelling at her but I'll hold out until she's back home and safe."
60 hours missing...
After the initial reactions of everyone to Javier's demise, I walked away. I tried to be as discreet as possible but Nyla's friends were giving me all sorts of suspicious looks. When Eva left the morgue after seeing her brother for what she assumed to be the last time, I changed into the scrubs we got earlier today.
I stepped inside from the man entrance as Lourdes came from the side door. "I'm here for the body," I said when I walked into the room. "Authorization?"
I didn't have to say anything. Lourdes just injected him with whatever was in the syringe he was holding. "How's That for authorization?"
"He'll be out for a few hours and won't remember a thing. If he does, the alcohol I planted will make them question his judgment."
"Hurry up let's get him out of here."
:::
"Alright, dad how does all of this work?" I asked as we sat in the back of an ambulance with Javier's half-dead body in a bag.
"Well, he's got about six minutes before he's just dead. So we gotta restart his heart before then. The easiest way is a defibrillator. Thank god we're doing this in an ambulance."
"Do you know how to work that thing?" I asked as he pulled out the defibrillator. "Nope."
My eyes bugged out of my head as I began to panic. "You said you knew what you were doing! Dad if he dies-"
"I know, Sebastian. We got this."
