Vanessa-
The week after Sebastian disappeared I started to worry a lot about him. I felt like I had lost him, like I might never see him again. I felt as if a loved one had just passed away, like he was gone forever.
With each breath I took, I felt the pain of his absence.
When he missed a week I started to worry, after a month I was very upset, after the first year I thought he was not in this country, and, at the second year I had finally thought of a way to take real action. I didn't know how much more I could lose. I decided to hack. I knew the school system still had his address in it so I knew where to look. Getting into my teacher's account was easy, all I had to do was look over their shoulder when they were signing in and watch my teacher's fingers as she typed.
That afternoon I used my laptop to sign in as my teacher, Ms.Gertrude. I quickly opened the spreadsheet with all the student's names and addresses and found the name Sebastian Lee and wrote down the address. I quickly signed off and deleted my teacher's account from the computer. No one would ever know I hacked it now.
It was strange that Roxane had also disappeared at the same time as Sebastian. Unlike him though, she had returned to school two months after she left. She was somehow different when she came back though. There was no trace of heartbreak. She looked different but still seemed morally the same.
As I got into my car and started to drive to Sebastian's house I began thinking more about Roxane. I thought about when she was back at school. She often missed classes, and sometimes even full days of school, some of my friends had asked her where she had been but every time she just replied, "I was at the doctor" or, "I was visiting my Aunt" and things like that. Everyone wondered what was going on with her. The last time she was missing was September 23, and it happened to be the same day, that a private boat on Lake Michigan was blown to bits by a homemade water bottle bomb the criminal had never been caught. Other serious events had happened many of the times that she had disappeared too. Some of the times she disappeared nothing happened at all. Roxane's best friend Sam was gone as often as she was and it was guaranteed that every time he left something dangerous was going to happen.
I figured that they were often pulled out of school because Sam's father was a firefighter and Roxane's mother was a police officer. It was the most logical answer. A first responder's child needs to know when their loved ones are in danger, especially with a danger that may be fatal to their parent's existence. They deserve to know what was going on.
I soon arrived at Sebastian's house and snapped my mind out of the clouds. I walked up to the house and rapped my knuckles on the oak wood door and waited.
