Sebastian-
I woke up with a loud machine to the left of me, beeping louder and louder now that I was awake. I frantically leaned up to only be pushed back down again. Crazy thoughts started running through my head, was this heaven? Does this happen to everybody in heaven? An especially alarming thought soon came to me: What if I was still alive? Well, maybe I was, I could feel pain, move, and all these things that I could do when I was alive. Unless I was alive, then nothing had changed. I felt a sharp pinprick on my shoulder, then another one, then another. My shoulder was cut. Split badly, I was getting stitches. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I yelled at the nearest person, "Can someone please explain what is going on around here!"
The nearest nurse came over to me and explained that I had jumped off a bridge. Well, obviously, I knew that. They further explained that soon after I hit the water I had collided with a rock, that was why I needed to get stitches. They also alerted me that they had numbed my ankle because I had broken a tenant in it. The nurse told me I was lucky to be alive. Along with that, I was told that if I had woken up before they numbed my ankle I would have gone into shock. The nurse continued and explained to me that some pedestrians had seen me jump off the bridge. One of them called 911 while the others climbed down the bridge and waded into the water to get me. Once they got me ashore they waited for the paramedics and I was brought here. That clarified my thoughts that I was still alive.
I began to worry again, what did all the other people think about me? What did Vanessa think about me? After all, she had to know. I was probably in the newspaper. I bet she was disappointed with me. I bet that when, or if she lets me see her again she would shun me.
Another doctor came over to me, "OK," he said, "please do not panic, but I am going to put you to sleep for your ankle surgery." I indeed did start to panic, but before I could get very far into my freak-out the doctor put me under.
