Vanessa-
At dawn the next Saturday I rose from my bed quickly, I got dressed as fast as I could and sprinted down the stairs two at a time to get to the kitchen. I poured some cereal into a plastic bag and placed a disposable spoon inside of it too.
I dashed out the door and into my car. I felt a quick vibration, I whipped out my phone and started to text Angela and Leah, they were meeting up with me today to search for Sebastian's house. We planned to meet at his neighborhood park before we began our search. I put my phone back into my cactus tote and began to drive, I knew it would take hours to find Seb but I was up for the challenge. My only fear was that when we reached his house he would either not be there or not be answering his door.
It was about a twenty-minute drive from my house to his neighborhood. I turned on the radio and turned up the volume, music blasted out of my speakers and I began to sing along. It was one of my favorites. However, halfway through the song I messed up the lyrics and ended up mumbling gibberish.
Soon, I arrived at the park and saw my friends. They called to me as I jogged over to them.
"So, are you guys ready to get started?" I asked them.
"Yes!" They both yelled. We all started to laugh.
"So, what I was thinking was that we could all be on the same block at the same time and we could each go to a different house on the block. Then, we would switch blocks once we went to every house on a certain block. Is that fine with you guys?"
"Yeah, that sounds great," Leah agreed, "Angela, what about you?"
"Yeah, that sounds fine."
We then started our search, we rapped on every door and rang every doorbell on each block. We worked for hours, and after a while it seemed like we were working for days. I learned it was not the best way to spend a Saturday. Along with that is was very time sucking.
There was one house that really stood out to me. It was golden brown and had two floors, it had a tan stucco on its pop top and was unusually ugly. Something about it just was not right. It was my house to check though so whether or not I wanted to knock on the door I had to, and I did not want to knock on it. I did anyway though, and I regretted it.
There was a square cut out of the wood door to be used as a peephole. I heard footsteps and saw a hazel eye look out of the hole. A grey ball was thrown out next to me. I heard an annoying amount of beeping. Then, I saw a black tube poking out of the hole. I looked at it puzzlingly, I had no idea what it was. Then it hit me, a big black gun. It shot and missed my forehead by an inch. It hit the grey ball and a fiery explosion pushed me toward the brick wall of the house. I fell. My head throbbed. I put my hand up to it and feel a warm liquid, blood. I tore the sleeve off my long sleeve shirt and tied it around my wound as I tried to escape.
A second bomb went off, it blew me into the metal fence by the pathway. More blood, and more bruises yet to come. I started to run, finally able to get away from the violence. I soon got to a safe distance away but I kept running.
My friends heard the noises and called my name, "What was that Vanessa?" Angela called. Soon they saw me sprinting toward them,
"Run!" I screamed. They turned too, their eyes widen as they see the human who tried to murder me stand on their porch staring at us. I never got to see who it was.
Once we were safely in the car we spent a few minutes trying to catch our breath. After that, we talked for a while about the weight of the situation. We all agreed that it was very important that we found Sebastian. I was glad that I had packed sandwiches because when I looked at my watch for the time I learned it was almost 12:30. We still hadn't found Sebastian. I then realized how hungry I actually was, I offered the meal to my friends and they gladly accepted it. It seemed they too were hungry but had forgotten to bring something to eat.
After that, we decided to start the search again the next Saturday when I was healed enough and well enough to keep going (all of us were very relieved that we had finished the block with the gun on it).
