You sat cross-legged by the tree where Nico had found you early in the morning. The step-by-step sword fighting instructions that was being taught by Percy was flowing out from one ear to another and your eyes glazed over in disinterest. You had never liked practicing or displaying your skills in public. Connor sat next to you, glancing nervously your way every once in awhile. Whenever he would, you found yourself scowling at him disdainfully and he would look away in a cold sweat.
You crossed your arms and leaned against the cool trunk. It was winter, but somehow the arena had been kept out of snow. Your eyes were starting to glaze over as you watched Percy invite Annabeth to a practice duel. Without a doubt, you were starting to become extremely bored. Your eyes were about to droop when you heard someone plopping down their sword just to your right. The sudden sound woke you and kept you out of the drowsiness, others even craned their neck to turn back just to see who was the idiot to make such an entrance.
"Surprised?" Nico asked as he squatted down next to you, "You look extremely bored." His cold brown eyes seeped into yours, a twinkle of amusement flashing across his face.
"I am extremely bored." You emotionlessly confirmed, keeping yourself from yawning. "I'd prefer practicing alone rather than being dragged through the woods with the Athena cabin." You shot a pointed look towards Connor.
Connor winced at the remark knowing that he was the reason you were acting snarky, "H-Hey Nico." He awkwardly greeted the son of Hades. Nico nodded silently and slumped down into the ground with a soft gasp.
"What are you doing here?" You asked Nico, who raised an eyebrow as if the answer should be obvious.
"To train?" He counter backed, leaning forward. Percy and Annabeth were sparring with each other now, the sounds of their ivory and celestial bronze steeled swords clashing together rang out in the arena.
"You must always keep your balance." Percy reminded the crowd, his voice distant in (Y/n)'s ears. Once again her eyes were glazing over with disinterest. You already knew everything there was to know about swordfighting and such other skills; nevertheless you still watched. Partly with pride for your brother for becoming such an amazing display of skills. Partly because, well, you really had nothing to do.
"Okay guys! I'll take the lesson from here." Annabeth announced, looking around the audience to check if someone is going to object with the idea. When no one did, she continued on as she gestured over for Percy to take a rest who took his place near Nico. You felt your heart accelerate when Percy waved hello to both you and Nico.
"This next technique is very hard to master. The best sword fighters take more than years to master this." Annabeth continued, walking around the students.
She showed a fencing move you know by the heart, "This move has a very evasive movement so you have to twist in order to be able to stab your enemy." Annabeth explained, twisting the hilt of her sword. By her feet, a student nodded sleepily. "No sleeping now, eyes on the sword."
Without meaning to, you yawned causing several other students to do the same. Annabeth glared at your direction, her grey eyes piercing through yours.
"Well," She moistened her lower lip in satisfaction, "I think I just found myself a new straw man to par with."
It's such a short chapter, I'm sorryyy!!! But dww i'll b back for more sksksk
