"I don't think putting ice on that is going to help." Nico commented as he watched (Y/n) angrily stuff tiny cubes of ice — which were personally cut by her — inside a gathered dry towel being used as a substitute for a proper ice bag.

Though he was already uncomfortable with the idea, he considered informing her that ice packs are for treating lumps or bruises and not for treating cuts but after watching her destroy the marble counter just to furiously chop the chunk of ice from the freezer, he figured he didn't want to become minced human meat. He wondered if it was a good idea to have taken up the babysitting duty instead of Will or the Stoll brothers.

Ever since she woke up, she had been acting this way — so fired up to destroy everything that hindered her. Take the ice, for example. Nico wasn't sure if it was because she was still bothered that Annabeth had provoked her or if it was because Annabeth managed to knock her out cold which probably shattered her pride somewhat, either way Annabeth is definitely on the top list of his pool of suspects.

Nevertheless, her appearance had turned back to normal. Though the process of her transformation happened so fast, the process of re-transforming happened to take quite some time without (Y/n) even ever noticing that her own appearance was undergoing quite a few changes.

Within an hour, her platinum long hair had turned back to (H/c), her (e/c) had lost its lavender shade and her skin, once dazzling like glittering diamonds, had turned back dull and (skin/colour). The only difference was, she was still angry. But he did wonder about something peculiar.

"It's not permanent?" He asked subtly, mostly to himself, about the science of her transformation; not at all aware that he had spoken out loud.

(Y/n) however seems to have heard, knowing exactly what he was thinking. She looked back at him, the curiosity clear in his face as he tapped a finger on his lips thoughtlessly. How cute, she thought silently as she felt herself smile at the sight ignoring the twinge of sadness she felt as she looked out the window.

"It's supposed to be." She sighed sadly, twirling a strand of (h/c) hair that had been flying across her face. Through the window, the sun still shone over the strawberry field and the campers who just finished eating lunch were going back to their daily activities. The smell of the food offerings wafted inside the slit of the windowsill reminding her that she hadn't eaten anything since after breakfast.

"Are you hungry?" Nico asked surprising her from her daze. Without her noticing, he had moved to stand beside her, his eyes glued to the silvery smoke caused by food offerings. (Y/n) observed as strands of dark hair fell over his long lashes and tangled with each other, completely forgetting about her hunger.

Without meaning to, she reached up and softly brushed away those strands of dark hair away from his eyes. Nico flinched at the action, startled by the sudden graze of her fingers his entire being backed away on impulse.

"Ah," (Y/n)'s cheeks turned beet red in embarrassment as she realized what she was about to do. "I-I'm sorry, did that make you uncomfortable?"

It took Nico a millisecond to regain his thoughts, the tension he felt in his body relaxed. He had been in this situation before, where girls tried to hit on him by being overly sweet, which was something that made him puke emotionally. However, something about the look in (Y/n)'s eyes told him that she was genuine and too innocent, he couldn't possibly be angry.

"N-no," He mumbled standing back next to her, rubbing the nape of his neck as he looked down at his shoes. "I'm...just not used to it."

"Then...may I?"

Nico hummed, studying the anticipation written on (Y/n)'s fair face. "I guess."

(Y/n) smiled softly as she reached up and combed through his unruly hair, removing all the tangled strands and baby frizz out of the way. Normally, he wouldn't be able to tolerate this kind of action as it made him uncomfortable to the max but somehow the gesture made him feel at home instead and he wondered why.

He stayed silent as her fingers continued to brush away his hair, glancing down to her sun kissed face every so often. In the sunlight, her (E/c) eyes shone with a subtle shade of lavender around the rings, illuminating her irises.

He squinted, his mind recalling an old memory. A memory of his mother telling him stories of old before bed. In one of the stories his mother had once told him, there was a young girl involved; a girl whose eyes were the colour of lavenders and whose hair illuminated the moonlight. A girl who he can't help but think about whenever he sees (Y/n).

He mentally racked his brain for more information, cursing at his younger self for being so afraid. His mother had only told him and his sister the story once, but it had scared him so much he begged her never to bring it up again. But something about her makes him want to pull out that memory, to know.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked, her voice extremely mellow as it resounded in his ears. Her fingers had stopped brushing against his hair but her hand stayed still, resting on the side of his head. Against the sunlight, her (e/c) eyes had gone back to purple as she looked up at him, the concern and overwhelming kindness flowing inside. All thoughts about her transformation where brushed aside as he was reminded of the familiar warmth he was feeling.

"My sister." He whispered, closing his eyes and remembered Bianca. How she would brush his hair the same way and rest her hand by the side of his head, just like (Y/n). He wondered if he felt comfortable around (Y/n) because of that, because Bianca and her were alike in some ways. "Her name was Bianca."

(Y/n) stayed quiet, knowing full well who his sister was and what had happened to her. She shouldn't have known, but secret trips to the attic led her to find the Hades figurine statue from Myth-o-magic and her curiosity won her over. Nico opened his eyes once more and met hers.

Ah, he looks like an angel. She thought, watching the sun drown him in the golden light. With a smile, she ruffled his hair softly; careful not to mess it up again before taking back her hand.

For a moment, they indulged in the silence listening to the laughter of the campers outside, the singing of the birds and the wood creaking beneath them. It was the serene calm she had felt this morning in McDonalds. No words, just silence, yet everything was completely comfortable.
