Chapter 14

Audrey

I crawled in the vent while my eyes teared up, I could hear the door break and the zombies voices, we ran downstairs and to the car, we immediately went in and Ethan drove off, Kath started crying so I comforted her, I was crying also but I wasn't showing it, I just lay Kath's head to my shoulders and stroked her hair, she was sobbing and I was also, there was silent until Ethan broke it.

"I'm really sorry about Christian." Ethan said,

I only looked at him and nodded, finally Kath raised her head and sat, she wiped her tears but her face was pink already.

"Where we going?" She asked,

"I don't know, I'll turn on the radio." Ethan said quietly,

Ethan did, and we heard the news.

"Sorry guys, we might be delayed for five minutes only, zombies from the front gate started acting crazy, I mean they all were anyway."

I laughed slightly while Kath said something under her breathe.

"Of course they are."

"That's why, I'll let you all hear what I recorded at that night." The news said,

"Finally, we had found a place for where we will evacuate the people, but I must tell you all that you shouldn't come at your own, the front gate, the only gate where you can enter was surrounded by zombies, and there are like hundreds of them, waiting for us to come out and surrender our flesh, they can never leave the gate, the only way to be saved is by a helicopter that's why we'll come tomorrow, I'll update you tomorrow."

We all looked at the radio as we listened, Ethan let out a sigh and spoke.

"I'm sorry, I thought we could take them, but I guess not, they're like a hundreds of them, so."

"Where are we gonna go?" I asked,

"Anywhere but outside the town." Ethan said,

We started traveling. Later at night, we stopped at a grassy place, Ethan stopped the car and spoke to us.

"I think we should stay here and sleep first." Ethan said,

I thought about Christian, I remembered the day he suggested on going to Carnival, even Ethan found it fun to be chased by zombies, also Kath had always been with him, the day when they went to the Market, I wasn't with them but I caught them so I joined them, some people think I'm a third-wheeler to them, they were my only close friends and I usually treat them as my brother and sister, and I remembered also the day that Christian told Kath that when they grew up, she is the woman he'll propose to and marry, lots of thoughts came to my mind, this is what I always feel.

"Why does almost everyone in my life had to vanished?" I thought to myself,

I was interrupted by Ethan when he squeezed my shoulders.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked,

I smiled and kindly responded to him.

"Yes."

Ethan knew I wasn't okay so he kept looking at me through the mirror.

"Ethan, if you like to talk to Audrey about something, maybe I could just sit at the driver's seat and you can sit here." Kath said,

They both exchanged seat and looked at Kath who closed her eyes, Ethan was at my side, I wanted to lay my head on his shoulder but I don't know if he'll be okay, and somehow he kinda read my thoughts, he held out his hands for me to lay my head on his shoulder, I did and Ethan comforted me, I wrapped my arms around him and started to close my eyes.

"So, Audrey? Wanna talk about something?" Ethan asked,

"I am kinda curious what Christian meant to what he said to you, about the woman in your heart." I said exhaustedly,

I feel like I was about to faint but I could stop it.

"Do you wanna know?" Ethan asked,

I nodded.

"It's-" Ethan said,

I suddenly fainted, I didn't heard the name he said but I had two guesses on my mind, was it another girl from the school? Or me?
