"My name is Harriet, and this is Sonya," The girl in front says, pointing to the girl next to her. "Have you been here the whole time, and we just didn't know?" Alby shrugs, saying, "I've been here for two years, you?" Harriet nods, saying, "Yeah, the Heart's been here for two years as well." Newt walks up, trying to hug me, but I flinch and shove him away. "This is Newt," I say, scowling. "He's second in command." Harriet looks confused. "I thought by your authority, you were first, or at least second in command," she says, shaking her head. I smile at this comment, and say, "If I were in charge, the place would smell a lot better." We laugh at this, leaving Newt and Alby looking confused, Newt even smelling his shirt to see what the problem was. "I think we'll get along fine," I say, smiling at Sonya and Harriet.

After lunch, Newt comes up to me and says, "Ya have to try out for the Builders and the Bricknicks today." He just points me in the direction and doesn't walk me over this time. I walk over, and Gally greets me with a smirk. "Okay, Greenbean. Go get some lumber, here," he says, handing me an axe. I trudge into the deadheads, over to the chopping area. There are already multiple tree stubs, scattered among live trees. I choose a thinner tree to start. I smack away at the tree, my thoughts going to Newt. I shouldn't be so hard on him. It really wasn't his choice, but then again, Ugh! This is just so confusing! I show up, not knowing anything about myself, I thought I had a thing going with Newt, but then he shows absolutely no mercy to a boy, who was obviously not well. Argh! THWACK! I realize I had completely chopped the small tree down, my axe now stuck in the thick tree next to it. I pull the axe out with a grunt, and pick up the log I chopped down. I drag it to the building area, chopping the twigs and branches off of it.

When I'm finished, I drag the now bare log over to Gally. He looks at me, frowning. "You did that fast," Gally says, staring at the log. I shrug, and say, "Yeah, can I go now?" He smirks, and says, "no, go chop a thicker one." I roll my eyes and walk into the deadheads again.

At lunch, I see some of the girls already getting along with certain gladers. By getting along, I mean that a redhead was making out with Newt, and Minho was being barraged by girls, flirting like there was no tomorrow. When I see Newt with the redhead my heart pings a little, because of our fight. I only really have Tommy now. And Gally, but Gally and I's friendship is weird. I look over and see Gally walking away, hands linked with a blonde. Okay, make that only Tommy. I look and see him twiddling his thumbs. They didn't run the maze today since all the girls were here. I put my soundphones on, pressing play, but nothing plays. I look at it, and it seems to not have any more songs. I rip my soundphones off, annoyed. I walk over to Thomas, who looks up at me. We don't talk, we just sit.

After lunch is over, I work with the Bricknicks. I get let off really early because I'm breaking more stuff than I'm building. I go to my hammock, but when I get there, all my stuff is in a box, with a note saying, 'You've gotta move. My girlfriend is sleeping here now. -Newt' I frown, throwing the note on the floor. I get an idea, picking the note back up, and grabbing a pencil out of my box. I write, 'Shuck you and your girlfriend. -B' I place the note on Newt's hammock and walk to Gally's Cave. I throw the blanket Chuckie gave me on the giant beanbag, and place my box of stuff on the table. I climb down, go to the building area, and tell Gally that I was gonna sleep there now. He was fine with it. I walk over to Homestead to make sure I had all of my stuff. When I get there, I hear Newt talking with his girlfriend. "You were the first girl in this glade, since you stepped over here first, love." "But Newtie, what about that Burnie girl or whatever?" "Oh, she doesn't count. She's useless." A tear slips down my cheek at his words, and I burst in. "Oh, I'm useless, huh!? Well, Shuck you!" I run off, sprinting to Gally's Cave. I throw myself on the giant beanbag, which seems to be something I'm doing a lot of these days. I look out into the maze, studying the vines that crawl up the side of the giant stone walls. I go back to the bean bag, and cuddle up in my blanket, soon falling into a dream.
