Chapter 38: Eventful

I didn't feel too comfortable in the peach dress that Alia had picked for me. It was simple and nice but I wasn't just in love with how I looked in it.

In all honesty, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dress. I would have been fondling over it on a normal day but apparently today hasn't been at all normal. I didn't feel comfortable with the dress because I wasn't comfortable with myself, the dress hadn't done anything but I was irritated with it.

I was also irritated with the loose waves that happened to be my hair, the necklace placed on my neck and the sandals strapped to my feet. They had no fault in what was wrong with me but I couldn't help but want to rip them off and just bury myself under the duvet lying on the bed.

I didn't feel like going anywhere but I couldn't tell that to Harry. Right now, I couldn't even tell him anything at all because he was just so distant and I wasn't sure if I was at fault anymore.

I find it hard to believe that the reason why he was behaving the way he was is because I hadn't told him what was bothering me. We've been in situations like this many times and he never failed to kiss my worries away every time, making me forget what the problem was in the first place. But now, I'm the one who's trying to forget on my own, and figure out what's up with him.

I could talk to him about it, I thought, but decided against it, knowing fully well he wasn't the type that shared his problems with anyone. Talking to him was the only idea I could come up with, I didn't see any other way to get him to talk to me.

We had even gotten dressed in the same room, but he didn't say a single word to me. I caught him glancing at me while I applied my make-up but that was it. At times he would stare openly but wouldn't say a word and I just pretended not to notice him. I didn't say anything to him either.

"You look beautiful," Harry said, leaning against the door.

I turned and stared at him, wondering how long he'd been standing there gawking at me.

And he looked very handsome himself in his packet white button up shirt, black bow tie and black dress pants. His hair was neatly swept off his forehead and the length made him look more attractive in his attire. He had a small smile on his face as he stared at me and I reddened a little.

"We should get going," He says simply as he pushes off the wall. He reaches for his black suit jacket placed neatly on the bed and I watch him put it on, adjusting where necessary.

I stand up from the chair in front of the dressing table, picking my phone and putting it in my clutch. Making my way out of the room, I pretend not to notice Harry staring at me once again. He opens the door for me and I step out of the suite with him behind me.

With his hands at the small of my back, he leads me to the elevator. The ride was silent, dead silent, save for the awful music coming from the speakers. It wasn't exactly the kind of comfortable silence I would have hoped for, it was more of a gloomy kind, the kind that could make you anxious for no reason.

I was more than glad when we got off the elevator and stepped into the wide parking lot. I couldn't even spot a car that didn't look more than a million dollars and the car the one that drove up on front of us, I was sure, was more than a million.

Harry opened the door, helping me in before getting in himself. And then the car zoomed off. Rollins drove as calmly as he did the first time I met him, allowing me to get a good view of Seattle at night. I turned lazily and watched Harry's face in the alternating light and shadow as the car passed beneath street lights.
