Chapter 41: Ailing

When I arrived in Harry’s apartment building, I was directed to an elevator that would take me directly to his penthouse. I was anxious, no denying but more than being anxious, I was restless and fretful. And it was because of why I was going to his house.

I would have still been working a little overtime in the office if not for the call I had received. It was from Harry’s home phone and I was so taken aback that I let my phone ring till the call terminated. I wondered why he called knowing very well that he was angry with me, he hadn’t spoken with me since we arrived home, almost five days now.

It turned out that it wasn’t actually Harry that called but Riel, his house keeper. She had called saying that Harry wasn’t doing well. According to her, he had a fever but even though I knew she wouldn’t make that up, I found it hard to believe.

I couldn’t just imagine Harry not hale. She had said that she had an emergency at home and he couldn’t leave Harry by himself that was why she had called.

And as expected, without even wrapping up my work, I transported myself to Harry’s apartment. I was worried out of my mind, wondering if it’s possible for him to be sick but then again, he’s human, but he’s also Harry Styles.

As the elevator opens up, I tighten my hold on my bag and step out. Harry’s penthouse was still as lavish as it was when I first stepped into it. The house was so quiet that I could hear the sounds of my boots against the tiled floor with every step I took and I couldn’t help but wonder how Harry lived here by himself.

“Emiliana, darling. Is that you?” Riel’s voice call out from the kitchen area. I hear her footsteps move towards where I was and soon enough she appears in front of me with a sad smile on her face. “I’m so sorry for calling you on short notice.”

I smile at her, shaking my head. “It’s not a problem, Riel.”

I could tell she was really apologetic but she honestly didn’t need to be. If not for her I wouldn’t know Harry was in such a situation. “He’s been feverish since morning but he won’t listen to anything I say, he even went to work even after I pleaded with him not to go. And now he’s temperature had gotten way up but he still won’t sit still.”

I wasn’t surprised by Harry’s behavior, I wouldn’t expect him to stay at home all day and give into his illness. It doesn’t sound like him, but stressing himself when he’s in such a condition will only make it worse. I’m sure he knew that.

“I have an emergency at home and I really need to run right now. I made some soup for him but he refuses to eat it. Please just try to persuade him to eat it and rest, I’m sure he’ll feel better come morning. He stressed himself so much this week, he just needs to rest.”

“Where is he?”

“His room,” she sighs. “I managed to persuade him to take a warm shower, he should be done by now. Just get him to eat, and please don’t let him do any office work, he really needs to rest.”

“Don’t worry about that, I’ll lock him in his room if I have to,” I say, meaning every word.

“Thank you so much, Emiliana,” she says and I tell her not to mention it. She smiles, “I’ll be back as early as I can tomorrow. Take care of him and yourself too, love.”

I escort her to the elevator and she gives me a brief hug before she leaves. It was clear Riel loved Harry very much, despite him being her mean boss. I was glad to know that he had someone like Riel to look after him at time like these especially because he’s far away from his family. He was incredibly lucky but I doubt he knew that.
