Okay so I've been thinking a lot about this story recently and I've decided to take it down this path.

It was safe to say things weren't working.

Caitlin had trouble making eye contact with Barry and she avoided touching him whenever she could the only time they made physically contact was when she was patching him up.

He definitely noticed but he hadn't said anything about it.

The door bell went rang while caitlin was in the shower and while Barry was changing Cassidy.

He finshed buttoning up her dress and went to answer the door with the baby in his arms.

"Just because you've lost your memory there's no reason to take so long answering the door" the middle age woman snapped

"Uh-I was dressing Cassidy ergh-do I know you?"

The baby gurgled and shoved her fist in her mouth Barry pulled it out gently "sweetie don't do that you'll make your self sick"

She let out a noise of protest but didn't start crying.

"I'm Caitlins mother" she said feeling slight offended she didn't know who he was "surely you must've seen pictures"

"Oh, we haven't really had time so... umm come in" he said stepping aside

Carla walked in and placed her bags down in the living room.

"Where's my daughter?" She asked as Barry placed Cassidy in her play pen.

"She's in the shower she should be out in a few minutes, is there anything I can get you?"

She waved a hand in the air dismissively "I can make my own drink thank you very much, you can never make my tea how I like it"

Before Barry could come up with a reply Carla was walking into the kitchen.

Barry watched in facernation as Cassidy pulled herself up into a sitting position with the assistance of the play pen.

"Oh sweetie you've never done that before daddy is so proud of you" he cooded and picked her up and peppering kisses over her face.

She giggled and reached up to pull her father's hair.

He pulled her hands away "no Cassie don't do that it hurts daddy"

She pouted and pulled on his jacket instead.

Caitlin came into the living room and smiled at her daughter "good morning"

She reached her arms out to caitlin and opened and closed her hands in a grabbing motion.

Caitlin took her daughter from Barry's arms and kissed her cheek.

"Have you changed her yet?" She asked

Barry nodded "yeah a few minutes ago and your mother's here"

She raised an eyebrow at him "my mother?"

Barry nodded "she's in the kitchen making herself a drink"

"Yeah you do that thing where you put the milk in first or leave the tea bag in while you put the milk in and she doesn't like that" she explained

"I don't drink tea so-"

"Yeah I know you don't like the way it feels in your mouth whatever that means"

"How do you-"

"We've been married for 3 years..." she trailed off

"Speaking of I was wondering if yo- we have any photos I can look at? To you know try and jog my memory"

Caitlin nodded "of course just let me go see why my mother's here"

As if on que her mother walked out of the kitchen "I'm sorry I didn't call first but I have a day off and I brought some clothes for Cassidy"

Caitlin walked over to the bags and pulled out a adorable little outfit "mum I told you to stop buying her all these expensive outfits she grows out if them in like 10 minuets"

"I can buy whatever I want for my granddaughter, look in that pink bag"

Caitlin opened the bag and pulled out a beautiful white dress with white flowers covering the top and a ribbon around the waist.

"It's for the christening" her mother explained.

"What christening?" Caitlin asked

"You said once Barry woke up then you'd get her christened so I just assumed now you have your husband back-"

"But I don't have him back, not completely anyway" caitlin said still staring at the dress.

Barry stood up and Caitlin felt guilt sink in her chest.

"Barry-"

"I'm just going to go for a walk, clear my head, its fine Caitlin really"

She looked up at him and nodded slightly and placed the dress back in the bag.

Before Barry left the house and started his run if the city he herd Carla ask her daughter "is everything okay between you two?"

he wanted to stay, to hear her answer because he was trying. He wanted to know how to help her through this he knew she was just pretending to be perfectly okay with everything but on the inside she was really struggling.

He made sure no one was around before he used his superspeed to begin his run of the city.

"Barry's not the problem he's been perfect he's an amazing father to Cassidy he's just not my Barry he's not the man I married"

"He may never be the man you married again, I can only begin to imagine how hard this is for him he just woke up from a 9 month coma a few weeks ago and he's forgotten the last 5 years of his life meaning he woke up to a wife he doesn't know and a child along with that, it must be a lot to process he doesn't remember the woman he fell in love with and it's quite obvious he wants to remember you and I think he feels guilty for not remembering"

Caitlin sighed "I know" she ran her hands down her face "I know...I just want him to remember so badly" tears escaped her eyes "I waited for 9 months for him to come back to me, to Cassidy and when he finally woke up he had no idea who I was I thought that when he woke up that everything would just go back to normal  and that we could have the christening and we'd be like we were before but we're not" she sniffled and inhaled "he doesn't love me any more but because I'm his wife he's trying to force himself to and I don't want him to do that"

"I'm sure he-"

"No he doesn't when I look at Barry or talk to Barry I just get this feeling" she placed a hand on her chest "he doesn't love me" she said sadly "but he loves Cassidy I can see that" she trailed off and stared at the baby girl.

"I know what I have to do" catlin said softly

Carla frowned "don't do anything irrational"

Catlin smiled sadly.

She had to do this.

I realised while re-reading this that they weren't realistic reactions and that I didn't like the way this story was going so I changed it.
