A Puzzling Situation

Sitting in the round room, connecting all the hallways and doors, Logan found himself working on a puzzle he had miraculously found laying around, tossed to the side as if it had been intended to be put together but then had been forgotten.

After finding the puzzle was only 2000 pieces, he decided it would be suitable for him to spend a little time putting it together because it wouldn't take him that long; he was much more used to bigger puzzles than this.

"Unlike Roman, I enjoy skipping the whole messy painting process and just piecing the canvas together. I find it's a much better way to create something both concatenate and beautiful without getting untidy." He said to himself as he sat back in the arm chair and assessed his work.

Half of the scene was still missing, so the picture wasn't quite finished yet, leaving the image to look a bit strange.

Narrowing his eyes as the pieces seemed to obscure, Logan leaned closer to the puzzle and rearranged the glasses on his nose with a frown.

"I suppose it'll look better when it's done..." Logan muttered to himself before pulling away and shrugging, continuing to add to the puzzle.

After fitting together a few more pieces, the logical side felt as though he was being watched; he could feel the eyes of someone gazing at him as he worked. Guessing it was probably Virgil who had walked in, Logan didn't bother looking up, knowing all too well the anxious side didn't like confrontation; he thought it best not to pay any mind. Plus he was still rather annoyed that Virgil had immaturely and very rudely cut short their conversation from earlier so he wasn't in the mood to strike any small talk.

After a few minutes of knowingly being watched, Logan finally looked up and around until he froze when his gaze fell upon a faded boy sitting on the couch opposite to him; he was looking off into the distance in Logans direction, seemingly staring but most likely daydreaming. Another boy sat beside him, gazing at the puzzle on the table and looking thoughtful as his glasses slid down his nose a little and he moved his hand to push them back up.

"Hey, stop it- I need help finding where this piece goes." The boy poked at his friend without looking over, startling them from their trance.

"Sorry... but this is just so boorrriinnnggg...!" They whined in reply, sinking down as they slumped lazily, their brown vest wrinkling up.

"I thought you could over come any challenge?"

"I can! But this isn't a challenge- it's a chore..!"

"Well.. unlike any of your unusual antics-"

"Adventures."

"Adventures- this is civilized."

"Civilized is boring!!"

"Do you even know the meaning of the word?"
"...No."
The boy with glasses huffed and continued on with moving the puzzle pieces about as his friend looked away in annoyance.

"So you can speak?" Logan asked glancing to the two figures, but neither of them seemed to hear him.

Clearing his throat, Logan made a small waving motion.

"Excuse me?" He asked, but it seemed the two could still not hear him.

Sitting back and looking on with suspicious narrowed eyes, Logan quieted to give listen to the chorus of thoughts pouring through his mind.

(Italic's were intended. Even the bits where they cut out)

"That was Deceit...?" Thomas asked, his eyes wide and his voice edged with a tone of surprise.

Virgil glanced to Roman before nodding.

"Yes... I know it's been a long time since you last saw him- but that was- Deceit."

Patton looked at his hands and Roman squirmed from where he sat on the bed, clearly uncomfortable.

"What does he want?"

"Who knows, all he ever does is create trouble. It's what he does best." Virgil shrugged.

"And what about that light..?! What was that?" Thomas seemed to become even more confused as the questions started to quicken and Virgil became more distressed as he was forced to answer them.

"Hey... lets calm down." Patton stood up and put a hand on Thomas's shoulder and looked to Virgil.

"This has us all a little worked up, lets give us some time to calm down and reset, then maybe- we can readdress things." He suggested lightly.

Thomas nodded with a sigh.

"I need time to think-" He agreed.

Virgil felt his heart pulse in a sudden wave of panic.

"Speaking of thinking- Where's Logan?"
