A Memory

I opened my eyes. I slowly realized where I was, and almost broke down again once I did. I was back where I had spent most of my life in. It wasn't real, but it felt like it. The corner of Thomas's mind where the Dark Sides dwelled.

Since as long as I could remember, I had been at the bottom of the chain. The other Dark Sides saw me as weak, useless, because I was constantly breaking down. I never used the considerable power available to me, unless I was bullied into it. Causing Thomas anxiety was something I dreaded and despised , because I knew how bad it felt. So I was a self-made outcast, the punching bag. The others filled the spot I didn't have, and they saw no virtually no use for me.

But after so many years of living hell, something had to be done. So I forced myself to learn how to shut down, to stop. No more breakdowns in front of them, and I reclaimed my spot by doing what I was supposed to. They grew to respect me, even if they all hated me. That's just how it worked.

I was still 'weak', still broke down in my room, and got lost in panic attacks so severe, I couldn't and wouldn't leave my room for days. I often attempted to sneak out of the Dark Kingdom, to steal even a glance at the life of the Light Sides. The Dark Sides do not look kindly upon traitors though, so I plagued our counterparts with nightmarish creatures and fear, to escape suspicion. It worked a little too well, and I blew whatever chance I had with the others. Every time one of them caught me at the border, we would fight until eventually I conceded and left. But day after day I still tried to get there, still tried to get them to understand.

Awww, poor Virgil. I feel like a bad person, because it's only going to get worse. Hang in there, and if you're emotionally sensitive, (or ship Moxiety) grab tissues. Also, please comment and vote, it really helps to know people are enjoying what I'm writing. Bye!
