This is the end of the first book :)
I decided to write Doppelgänger 2 that will be coming soon. This book will be the same type of formatting but just a little different in terms of lead character and points of view. I know that this book ended on a terrible cliff hanger, but I think this will work out very well in terms of the plot and wrapping up the ending of the story as a whole.
This will be a two book series in total. Please anticipate it and add it to your library!
I'll explain some of the this book now without giving up too much detail considering most of the supernatural elements can be left up to your creative imagination.
Jimin suffers with severe depression. Like most people who are depressed, he also suffers with heavy anxiety and has little to no self-worth. He's been attending therapy for quite some time and is usually pretty sick, though recently (within the last year) he was able to finish college and move out on his own. This was a big step for him, and his mother is constantly worried about him taking care of himself. At the start of the book, Jimin is not medicated, but as things progressively get worse, he ends up going back on his pills to cope with the plot.
Jimin met Taehyung at a bus stop while taking a solo trip a few towns over to visit some old art museums. At this time, Jimin was decently stable (again, within the year) in terms of his mental health, and was able to start dating Taehyung without much repercussions. However, he kept Taehyung in the loop about his disorder and what sort of things to expect when he gets sick. When the book starts, Taehyung and Jimin have been dating for approximately six-seven months, give or take. Their relationship is still quite new and they are very close.
Taehyung is truly boyfriend of the year in this book. Though he doesn't always understand the things that Jimin goes through, he is supportive and honest, and is very open about how he feels or what he's going through himself.
The main plot of this book is the antique mirror. This mirror was given to Jimin very recently after his Grandmother passed away. His Grandmother was known to be a bit "crazy" herself, and she believed that the mirror was haunted. Eventually we discover that the mirror is not just a mirror. Jimin's reflection, as known as his doppelgänger, is an actual rendition of himself. Some lore that I researched (especially from the show Supernatural) states that reflections are manifestations of ourselves, and I thought that to be interesting.
Since Jimin has very low self-esteem and doesn't quite excel in a lot of expectations in his real life, he talks to himself in the mirror for various reasons regarding the things he's self-conscious about; his job, his physical image, his mental health, his relationship with Taehyung, and of course his over-all hate for himself.
Eventually the reflection is able to physically manifest and switch places with Jimin. And that is where this part of the story ends.
Thank you for reading and please feel free to comment your thoughts on the book and spread the love :)

(Since I removed the 'intermission' chapter that I had previously published, here are the #vmin pics for physical character inspiration. Jimin and Taehyung from the DNA era are my heart and soul.)
