Drudging through
Pushing through
A long, wearying day.
Tonight, I pray, tonight,
Sleep will take a hardened edge away.
To sleep,
To cease stepping,
Step after step after step
Taking in everything,
Taking in, absorb, learn, know
In rest, a respite,
A welcome respite.
Emotions high
Body broken
Head spinning
Like a leaden weight
Or a soaking sponge.
An unending morning and afternoon
Of activity
Of learning
Of exploration
And now, I go
Now, I rest.
Tomorrow, I'll continue.
Tomorrow, I'll learn more.
I'll push my limbs to breaking point once more.
And again, and again
Keep fighting another day.
Another, and another
More and more days.
There's so much to see,
So much to learn
There's no end to what should be gotten
And an infinite amount
Of demands to meet.
We push and pull
We stretch and stress
Do everything, to meet a new next.
Nothing's ever done,
We're always given more,
There's no end to what we live for.
So I'll sleep, sleep hard
I'll rest much as I can.
I'll meditate
And regenerate
Prepare to go out again.
Tomorrow's a day anew,
Tomorrow, I'll face what's next to-do.
