Today it is a lost art
But never unworthy.
A stylish pen
Can change your life
And recommend you
As best as anything can
No one strives to seek
A lovely, elegant hand.
Nothing nowadays is written
But only typed instead.
What's the beauty in type?
Where's the skill in spelling?
Grammar used to mark class
And identify the learned
Today I confess it appalling
A true failure of learning.
Excellent writing, I say
Is the mark of good
It alone designates
The sort of folk you are.
Penmanship is distinctive
Very memorable, identifying
So do it well
Or not at all,
But it's truly worth trying.
Recognize, really,
The importance of good hand
Think of how pen
Advances you in the end.
As unique as your print
But far more easy to know
Spend some time
And develop beautiful hand.
Whether it's cursive,
Calligraphy or print,
Do it justice
Do it good
And establish fine sign.
It'll do you well—
Everyone'll be impressed
Everyone who didn't know
