Heart beats fast,
Standing I hold my breath,
Right from the start,
I knew I'd found a home for my heart.
Now we come to this
One step closer
The ring on my finger
And flowers in hand
Here in love with you
I fearlessly stand.
All of me bound my emotion
To all of your beautiful soul.
They can shake their heads
We will not waver.
The road I've walked
To stand on this summer day
Is broken, but blessed anyway.
From a backless dress,
And high speed dance,
To a kiss in the rain
And hours of waiting,
Time brought you to me
At God's wise command
I'm in love with the shape of you
The worn comforts of your soul
Bound no more by photographs
But for us to enjoy freely
Each other at last.
How do these precious moments last forever?
That I cannot say.
But ours is a tale as old as time.
I stand waiting in the silence
Thinking how you come
And sit awhile with me,
In your arms,
I see the light.
With you, a fog is lifted.
All those years waiting
I wish I'd spent with you.
The music rises
And I step out of reverie
One step closer
To you and eternity.
