My Country (Almost Honest Version)

My country, proud and free,

America, 'sweet land of liberty',

My nation pride and home

Expansive lands to roam.

From mountaintops to sun-kissed sand

To the canyons, lakes and forests of my native land

So breathtaking, so majestic!

Our soldiers stand, tall and proud,

We wave our flag, sing the anthem loud,

America, bright living democracy

A manifest destiny from sea to sea.

We praise our patriots, celebrate forever

Our causes most just when we fight with fervor

So strong and so dauntless!

We are a nation of many peoples

Some mosques, some synagogues and steeples

We are of many a shade of skin

But we are American--the world is kin.

We are left and right, quick to speak

We have our polars, our scandals and leaks

So we are flawed, so we are different.

Here we stand in eternal golden age,

My country, freedom from tyranny's cage.

We are asylum; hope to weak and weary

Of these people we loathe be leery

We are the land of luster,

The very greatest, we muster

So proud am I to be American!
