Regina was walking down the hallway when Ruby called her
" Regina where are you going , you have three classes left !" Regina ignored her and kept walking
" REGINA !" Ruby shouted louder . Regina shook her head " NOT TODAY RUBY OKAY !"she shouted back before storming out of the school and down the sidewalk until she got to the docks .She sat on one of the benches and her head was foggy replaying the day over and over in her head .She remembered and pulled out her phone , scrolling down through the voicemails in her phone and found the one she was looking for . She pressed play and held it up to her ear
"Regina, i-i--ugh ...its e-emma .I'm sorry for not coming to school today with you I just i-i was being selfish and ...im sorry , for everything i did to you . For being a bully .For making you help me when all it did was get you in trouble ...and for , god I'm so stupid I would never-i shouldn't have left the party ...the stupid fucking party . Gina that happened to you because of me .. I'll never be able to forgive myself for what he did to you !...its all my fault i knew you were too drunk I knew I should have taken you home but i-i left ...i left you ..alone .Regina I'll never be more sorry than I am now and I know I can't fix it but maybe if I'm out of your life then ...then it might stop ya know ? , god I fucking love you Regina Mills .so god damn much ! Regina could hear Emma's voice break at the end of the message and she wiped away her tears that fell . The next thing she heard was police sirens and ambulances speeding down the road " no...emma you didn't" Regina whispered to herself before running down the street as fast as her legs would take her to her house . Emma's group home.
When she got close enough the flashing lights came into view and she sped up the pathway to the house . She stood still as the gurny with Emmas lifeless body on it came rushing out the front door , a medic on top of her pumping her chest to get a pulse back , the woman in charge of the group home standing with no emotion as Emma's limp body was loaded into the ambulance and taken away .
Regina watched the ambulance speed away down the street and she turned around and walked home . She felt tears down her cheeks , she felt sick but couldn't throw up .when she got to her house she opened the door with her key and closed it . She put her keys in the bowel at the door and took her jacket off . Her mother called out " Henry is that you ? ...oh Regina bunny why are you home " Regina just looked at her mother with red puffy eyes but couldn't get any words out " Regina your scaring me what happened?" Cora asked with a shaky voice grabbing her daughter's shoulders .
" they took her ...shes gone , she said it was her fault but it wasn't and now she's gone and I-" Regina was babbling and her mother cut her off
" who Regina !? Who " Regina looked at her mother as a sob ripped through her chest " Emma ..shes she's d-dead " Regina fell to the floor crying .her mother was quick to pull her into her chest and rub soothing circles on her back "shh baby it's okay shhh " Cora cooed trying to get her daughter to breathe but couldn't get her to stop crying .
Regina didn't eat or sleep . Everyday she would visit Emma and tell her what was going on in school and who was dating who , she tried to keep a brave face for Emma . Her Emma but deep down all she wanted to do was cry .
Regina heard the long beep just as someone sat on the other bench . She put her phone away not even achnologing the person " Regina you can't keep blaming yourself " the person said . Regina scoffed " why ? It is my fault .I got jealous and drank too much , I flirted with Killian to get revenge , i-...Emma you tried to kill yourself because of me " Regina barley got the words out " that was a year ago Regina .You need move on , I did " Emma said looking at Regina " it's not that easy Emma ! I can't just forget what happened ...i seen your lifeless body being lifted into the ambulance ." Regina felt hands on her knees and realised Emma was kneeling in front of her .
" Regina Mills , you are the strongest person I know . I have done nothing but ruin your life since the day I came into it ...you don't deserve to be miserable because of me " Regina wiped a tear " I love you Emma why couldn't you just see that " Emma smiled softly and kissed Reginas forehead " I'm sorry Gina " Regina looked down " a little too late to say sorry , Emma...your dead " Emma hummed " but I am always with you . For forever , your my queen Regina and you deserve happiness " Regina shook her head " I was happy with you "
" and you will be happy without me , I know why you ran out of school Regina I'm dead not stupid .What's his name ?" Emma said looking down on her girlfriend " Robin ...his name is Robin " Regina said smiling lightly "he sounds great ..he makes you smile , that's all I ever wanted for you Regina . Someone to love you as much as I do ." Regina nodded " but-" Emma cut her off " Regina Marie Mills ! Listen to me ...im telling you its okay , move on ..be with Robin . Don't let me stop your second chance at a happy ending " Regina felt a hand on her shoulder .
" Regina you scared me , you didn't show up for second last period " Robin said hugging Regina " I'm sorry it's just i-its the anniversary of her death and I -" Robin nodded " you wanted to be alone ..its okay Regina , I know how much you loved Emma " Regina smiled and stood up " I just needed to say goodbye ..." Robin nodded and wrapped his coat around Regina " let's get you to Grannys for a hot coco to warm you up " Regina nodded and looked back quickly , she seen Emma nodding and smiling brightly before walking off and disappearing into the foggy air around them .
