Hayley’s POV
“Oh? Why sudden?” I am here together with Lance having a chit-chat. Namimiss ko rin naman bestfriend ko. Minsan lang kasi kami talaga mag-usap na dalawa since busy ako, busy rin siya, plus pa yung ayaw ni Dave na nakikipag-usap ako sa kanya.
“Bakit? Bawal ba akong makipagkita sayo?” ngumiti ako sa kanya.
“Eh baka kasi may sumulpot na Dave dito at suntukin ako.” Biro niya tsaka umupo sa harap ko.
Nandito lang naman kami sa resto malapit sa mall. Hindi ko na pinaalam kay Dave na sabay kaming magla-lunch ni Lance kasi baka nga magkatotoo ang sabi ni Lance. Hehe.
“Pero yung totoo Hayley?” he looks at me like scrutinizing my eyes.
“Ah, kasi Dave, I just need my bestfriend to listen to me.”
“Bakit? Hindi ba nakikinig si Dave sayo?”
“No, it’s not that. I just want to vent my heart to you. Medyo nahihirapan kasi ako sa sitwasyon ko ngayon.” I said as he called the waiter to take our orders.
“What is it? Niloloko ka na ba ng Dave nayun?”
“Ano ba naman yan, hindi no. Hindi yan kayang gawin ni Dave.” Hindi ko alam pero parang nakita kong nag-smirk si Lance. “I already have my petition from Kuya, Lance.”
“Huh?”
“Hindi pa alam ni Dave to and I don’t know how to say it to him na he won’t get angry at me.” I lowered my voice, I just don’t know what to do. The more I think, the more I’m afraid to act.
Dave leaving me is worse but thinking that I will be the one to leave Dave is two-times worst.
I just cannot leave him hanging here alone and I cannot live without his presence by my side too. I depended myself at him much.
“So, what are you trying to do? Ditch him?”
“Ofcourse not!” I will never do that.
Kahit lokohin niya pa ako, kahit saktan niya pa ako ng paulit-ulit, as long as Dave doesn’t ask me to let him go and give his freedom, I will never let go of him even we’re thousand miles away.
“Then?” Lance looks so bored or irritated as what my peripheral vision can see.
He doesn’t speak more. Hindi ito yung reaction na gusto kong ibigay niya sa akin or hindi ito yung hinihintay kong sasabihin niya. I’m waiting for his comforting words to let me know that I have him as my bestfriend, but I think time switches, people changed.
“Please, help me say these to Dave or just tell me how to do it to say at him.” I plead.
He drank his glass of water and looked up to me.
We shared stares for a minute and then he sighed.
“Gail, I don’t know how to help you. I know nothing about Dave, but you, you know him more than he know himself. You know how will he react if you say this to him. Hindi naman sa ayaw kitang tulungan but Dave doesn’t like me near to you. Ano pa kaya if sasabihin natin sa kanya ito? Di’ba magagalit siya kasi ako yung unang sinabihan mo nito instead na siya?” I nodded. He has a point.
Akala ko wala talaga siyang ganang makinig sa akin ngayon.
My eyes were tearing, my soul is panicking. I don’t know what to do.
It’s a choise between telling and not telling.
Kung hindi ko sasabihin kay Dave at aalis na lang, I can surely hurt him and hurt myself too pero kung sasabihin ko, it will lessen the burden inside me and I know that Dave will understand me.
“Ssssssh.” Lance bent his arms and wiped my tears. Tumulo na pala luha ko.
Mas naiyak pa ako kasi I miss this times with Lance, yung naiiyak ako kasi iniiwan ako ni kuya and only Lance who was there comforting me.
He stood up and hugged me, I hugged him back so I can really feel the contentment from him.
“Whatever happens Gail, I will always take you from Dave.” He said.
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
I feel like I am petrified at my seat when I heard his words.
I know that Lance loves me the way I love him too.
He is my savior, brother, bestfriend and my shoulder to lean on. He is the only one I will choose between myself and him if someone will ask me if who will I save on a sinking ship.
Lance was my first love and will always be.
“I love you too.” I replied. There is nothing wrong to answer him back like that.
That will be the only thing in repaying him after all the things that he have done to me. It is also telling him my thank you.
“HAYLEY!” I got stunned when I heard his voice.
I rapidly unclasped my arms around Lance waist and compost myself as Lance went back to his seat.
Oh no!
This is worst.
I didn’t expect that he will be here!
“Dave.” Lance called as soon as he saw Dave stood up in front of him.
