The repetitive sound of shoes our trudging through small ponds of water became soothing as my gaze wondered around the back of the school, appreciating the beauty of nature that surrounded us.

"Come on. Keep up. We're late."Jess ordered as I followed behind her on the small path towards the gymnasium, that was a few yards away from the main school building.

Droplets of rain started to pour down one by one, colouring its surroundings as a cold winters breeze danced around our damp bodies.

The sudden change in temperature burned my nose as warm air started to surround us as we entered the enormous gymnasium.

"Wow." I muttered standing in awe, admiring the sheer size of the place was staggering.

A large track field surrounded the two beautiful, freshly waxed basketball courts while four extravagant bleachers outlined the field.

"Wow." I said completely breathless from astonishment.

"Pretty nice, isn't it?" Jess asked as we both stood in the door admiring the place.

"Yeah... how can they even afford a place like this?" I asked turning my head back to Jess.

"Oh!" She widely grinned. "I can actually tell you that."

"Okay, okay let me just remember what Stacy told me." She said lifting her hand up for me to stay quiet.

"Okay do you know that here's kids from Arcata and McKinleyville right?" Jess asked as we started to walk on the outskirts of the field.

"Yeah." I nodded intrigued.

"Well each town gets a certain amount of money to spend on their schools and seeing that they don't have any, but all their children are here in Willow. The money comes to us." Jess explained which surprised me even more that she remembered that.

Maybe Jess isn't the dumb blonde everyone thinks she is?

"Willow has dollar dollar bills y'all." She loudly announced as she brushed her hands making imaginary money rain.

"Yeah." I laughed while following her towards a door on the right side with bold words neatly printed at the top.

LOCKER ROOM
[🚺]

"This is our locker room. The boys are on the other side, I can show you that if you want?" Jess asked with a sly smirk.

"I'm good thanks." I laughed as we entered the locker room.

The room was filled with rows and rows of lockers with a sign at the back pointing towards the showers as a strong perfume smell hung in the air.

"What's your number?" Jess asked, unhinging her locker before stuffing her pink sports bag inside.

Taking out the little shriveled piece of paper I tried making out the horrible hand writing principal Miller had.

"505." I red out loud before looking back up, admiring the mass of lockers.

"Here it is, in the middle." Jess said while opening the locker.

"Okay hurry up and get dressed, I'm going to see if Stacy is here yet." Jess said closing the door behind her.

After I dressed I walked back out towards one of the bleachers closest to the door where Jess and Stacy sat.

"Aw Alex! I love your shoes." Stacy said indicating to my shoes.
