Crux: noun (the crux) the decisive or most important moment of issue.

Me:
"Stacy? Stacy just listen.
There's absolutely nothing
going on between me and
Aiden. I promise you. I
would never do that to you"

Stacy:
"Yeah? Why are you two
sneaking around with each
other then? For nothing
going on - there's sure
plenty somethings.
I rolled my eyes in
annoyance as I scuffled my
shoes in the dirt leaning up
against a tree at the start of
the woods. Feeling the cool
breeze running over my
sweaty body from my jog, I
tried explaining to Stacy the
situation between Aiden
and I earlier today for the
millionth time.

Me:
"We weren't sneaking. Like
I said he needed help with
something and it took
longer then expected."
I repeated the same lie over
and over. I totally get why
Aiden doesn't want me to
tell them, bút damn it makes
situations hard for me.

Stacy:
"You keep saying that, yet
you seem to keep the
'Something' secret. What's
so important?"
She persisted, giving me no
space to think of any
distractions.

Me:
"I helped him with track
stuff."
The lie blurted out before I
could fully think it through.

Stacy:
"Like the running track?"
I smiled realising this might
just be the fastest white lie I
ever made.

Me:
"Yes. He was embarrassed
that he needed help, that's
why I kept it a secret."
I said as my head lifted up
into the sky seeing the once
clear light blue sky quickly
becoming darker and
heavier with each moment.

Stacy:
"That makes sense. He's
always so proud, he would
never admit that he needs
help."
She said approving my
excuse.

Me:
"Yeah. Hey look I have to go.
I was busy running when
you called and I want to get
home before it rains. I'll
call you back tonight."
I said standing up from the
tree as I turned my head
around and around looking
up to the weary black sky.

Stacy:
"Oh yeah sorry. And I'm
sorry I didn't believe you"

Me:
"It's fine Stacy. Talk to you
later."
I laughed ending the call
before slipping my phone
back into my back pants
pocket.

Turning to my side I gave one look over the almost empty park at the small convenient store, wondering if I should go say hi to Luke before I carry on.

Taking a step out of the woods I attempted to make my way towards him before the loud growl of thunder erupted throughout the darkening sky.
