You ought to leave before it’s too late

You’re not hearing me yet but just wait

Listen to me if you do let

We go to college to pay a debt

That we pay off throughout our lives

And then we save up for the day we die

Until our brains rot inside our minds

Only to be buried six feet under so we can hide

From the truth of the world

The absolute shit that keeps us warm

At night suffocating my blanket tight

Gripping skin to rip up in the night

Because truth be told, what is the point?

Life’s too hard now that you need to roll a joint

Or take some pills to make you feel less depressed

When really what we need to do is stop being stressed

Stop the world as it is now and take a step back

Calm down for a minute and let’s look at the facts

We’re killing each other in every single way known to man

To disband our society is my only hope as an action plan

Author's note:

I wrote this a while ago, and it's meant to be more of a rap instead of a poem, but I thought I should share it anyway because I personally think it's one of the better things I've written. Thanks for reading!
