Devan's POV
I laid on my bed and just starting thinking about years ago
(Flashback 5 years)
I walked through the big green doors of my high school, keeping a close eye on everyone around me, making sure he doesn't find me.
Next thing I knew I was grabbed by my hood and I was dragged across the floor into the bathroom, suffocating.
He forced me into the big stale and ripped of my sweatshirt and shirt. He took his little pocket knife and ripped my skin, making long cuts down my back. Causing blood to drip down my back and staining the top of my pants. I felt weak, he threw me on the ground and walked away laughing like it was all a joke.
It wasn't a joke. It hurt. Not just physical pain, but also it hurt emotionally. I knew this would ruin me for the rest of my life.
I'm covered with scars, each one brings back a memory.
As I walked down the crowded hallway I received a phone call... "hey mom!"
"D-dev-Devan" mom trying to say my name between sobs.
"Mom what's wrong?!" I said as I ran outside.
"C-Col-Collins." She said sobbing uncontrollably.
"What's wrong with Collins?!" I asked getting teary eyed.
"Just c-come to t-the -hosp-h-hospital..." She said and immediately hung up.
I ran to my car, unlocked it, and drove to the hospital as fast as my little car could go.
When I got there the lady at the desk said I could see Collins.
"Collins!" I said running towards him sobbing.
Mom was sitting at edge of his bed sobbing with dad sitting next to her with his arm rapped around her.
"D-Devan?" Collins said with a weak voice.
"Collins, please don't go." I
Said as more tears streamed down my face.
"Please keep the keyper family strong, let them know I'm in a better place. Here.. take this.." He said struggling to take off his key necklace. He put it in my hand and rapped my fingers around it. "When you miss me, grab the necklace to remind you that I'll see you again someday. I love you Devan." He said right before he passed out.
After that I had cut myself more than I ever had. My brother, best friend, idol, partner in crime, gone. Forever.

(Present time)
Tears filled my eyes as I thought about my high school years.
I looked at the time, 2:46 pm. I had to meet Bailey at the coffee shop. She knows about my past, she gets worried about me, but I try and convince her that I'm fine. Even though I'm not. Even though I'm suffering and drowning doesn't mean she has to. She deserves to be happy.

When I arrived at the coffee shop she ran to me and embraced me in a big hug. "Hey Devan!!" She said with a big grin on her face.
After we drank out coffee we walked to the park.
"Devan it's hot out here, aren't you biting up in that sweatshirt?!" She asked
"No I'm f-" I started to say as she rolled up one of my sleeves. She held my wrist as she looked at my arm. She slowly looked up at me with tears in her eyes.
"Devan you've... you've been cutting yourself again?" She said crying.
"Well..." I started to say. I have. I didn't know how to cope with my pain. It was my only option.
"I'm worried about you." She said rapping her arms around me.
"Hey, Bailey, it's ok. Don't worry about me" I said kissing her forehead.
