POV Austin
I didn't know what to feel. Alan was slumped on my couch, his eyes screwed shut and his arms crossed over his chest. He was sleeping heavily, and since we had sex a few hours ago, he had been sleeping. He needed it. His eyes had purple bags under them and he was so exhausted. I frowned and flipped through my papers, trying to find a good starting point for my readings of the journal entries. They were Josh's journal entries, but both he and Oliver had written something in it this week. Those two seemed to be getting along much better than any time before.
I was about to dive into the reading when a muffled moan came from the couch. I swallowed hard and looked over at the figure of Alan.
"N-no." He whimpered. "N-no-I did-I-sorry." I felt my ears redden, wondering what he was dreaming of. He seemed to be frightened of something. His arms were even more tight around his body with his face pale-or even more pale than it usually was. I stood up to wake him up, but he suddenly grunted and sat up, rubbing his face.
"Alan? Are you okay?" I asked softly, worried about his little self. Alan's hands slowly lowered as he looked at me carefully, his jaw working.
"Oh-Yeah. I'm fine." Alan winced and coughed into his hand, looking around as if he was just recognizing his surroundings. That worried me a little. I ran my fingers through my hair and sucked on the inside of my cheek. I should probably say something.
"Uh-" I started, but Alan interrupted me.
"I guess you can tell Dr. Gaskarth that you lost that bet, huh." Alan smirked. "I wanted to make sure you'd lose, so I played hard to get."
My eyes widened and I choked on my own spit. "What?" I spat out after I had managed to regulate my breathing.
Alan's smirk widened and I stared at him, my nose flaring a little. "Well, I mean, you didn't really try that hard. Even when I threw myself at you, you didn't want to win that bet. Took you long enough. I thought you liked a tricky game."
"How'd you know?" I whispered. Alan's eyebrows cocked with confusion.
"About you liking a tricky game?"
"No." I blushed furiously. "About…about the bet?"
"Oh, I overheard Jack talking about it with Dr. Gaskarth." Alan leaned back in his seat on the couch. "I must say, I thought you were gonna make the first move. But-"
"You knew about the bet all along?" I put the pieces together. No one would have just thrown themselves at me like Alan had. It just didn't make sense.
"Oh yeah. Of course I did." Alan scoffed. "I could see the way you were eyeing me like some sort of animal you were afraid to approach. That's when I knew it wasn't just a rumor." I felt my mouth go slack and I just watched Alan stand up, patting my shoulder. "It's okay, Dr. Carlile. If you got points for being good in bed, you would get them. I'll tell Dr. Gaskarth if you want me to-"
"You knew about the bet?" I asked again, this time with a little more aggression. Alan frowned.
"Well, yeah. Didn't you just ask-"
"I am so sorry!" I apologized immediately. "I didn't agree to the bet! You're not just a bet-I loved that! What just happened-I really, really enjoyed it. I wanna do it again sometime, but…I mean…I didn't think of the bet before I had sex with you! I thought about it afterwards, b-but I mean, that was an absolute afterthought. And I really like you-"
Alan's lips pressed to mine, silencing my rambles. My heart fluttered and my eyes met his when he pulled away.
"Calm down, Austin, God. It's not like I'm mad or anything. Trust me. I kind of figured you turned down the bet, seeing how I can't picture you doing something like that. You're as innocent as Gabe. Trust me." Alan kissed me again and I felt my stomach cramp up with butterflies. "You're so adorable when you're all worried and shit."
