POV from Austin
Alex and I sat next to each other in my office. Right now, everyone was supposed to be in bed, but both of us decided to stay the night, considering all of the strange happenings that were going on in this hospital. For an example, Oliver wanting and trying to kill himself, Josh's sudden split of personalities, the nurses getting into the fights, and what Jaime told me about Tony's self harm, I just had to figure out what was going on.
Alan and I still had normal meetings, and he didn't act differently around me, but I realized that I couldn't look at the boy the same. When Alan told his story, he mentioned that he didn't always have to fill in for his father's sexual needs or requirements, but that always got to me, because that meant his father must've done something to him, which would also explain why he was so angry when I asked him about he and his father' relationship.
I sighed and rubbed my temples and Alex sighed as well, scratching his stomach and looking at me, his eyes curious.
"Want to watch a movie?" He offered. I nodded and yawned.
"What were you thinking of?"
"Oh, maybe The Nightmare Before Christmas." Alex shot me a grin. "I love that movie."
I rolled my eyes, rubbing my arms. I called my friend, Adam Elmakis, to check on Felinus and told him to be careful with Killer, seeing how Killer spent most of his days depressed in the shower where Coco was found and snapped whenever someone came near him…except for me. He would nuzzle up to me and lick my hand, looking at me with sad eyes, but other than that, he hated everyone who went near him.
"Alright. Go ahead. Start the movie." I said, shuffling through papers. Alex sent me a sad look.
"Let's go into the Sun Room. There's a better TV."
I checked my watch and bit the inside of my cheek. It was 1:23 am, and the patients went to bed about two hours ago. "Fine. As long as we're quiet."
Alex nodded and went to my stack of things, shuffling through my DVDs that I kept in here. Like I said earlier, sometimes I spent the night here because I didn't have much to go back to at home.
Alex held up the plastic rectangle triumphantly and grinned at me. "Let's go!"
I grabbed the pile of papers that were on my desk and nodded to Alex, suppressing a yawn. Alex opened my door and we walked down the eerie hospital halls, only lit by the dim bulbs. Alex and I walked side by side into the Sun Room. He finally walked to the large flat screen that was positioned in the corner of the room, up high on the ceiling. I situated myself on the couch in front of the TV. Alex fiddled with the hidden DVD player and slipped the movie in, jabbing buttons on the remote before sitting down beside me, turning down the volume. He flicked off the lights and I rolled my eyes, dropping the papers down on my lap in slight annoyance.
"Hey, you have other opportunities to do that shitty work. Just sit back for-" He looked at the DVD sleeve, searching for the run time. "-the next 76 minutes." I gave him a pouting look, but Alex only gave me one, 355% better.
"Fine, I'll watch this stupid movie with you." I said, putting away my work and placing the folder at my feet. I sat back and Alex grinned in satisfaction, crossing his arms over his chest, a smirk still on his thin lips.
As the movie went on, I was sucked in to the plot. It had been a while since I had watched this movie. We were at the part where Jack Skellington was doing all of his experiments on Christmas, and both Alex and I were humming to some of the songs. Suddenly, we heard a chuckle behind us. Alex snapped his head around, as if he recognized the sound. I only watched Alex's expression and realized that he did, in fact, know the man who was laughing.
