Austin's POV

"Dr. Carlile, you're free to go." said the man in front of me, gesturing in front of him. I frowned.

"What?"

"You're free to go." he repeated himself.

"Wait, what happened-"

"Your lawyers will explain." the man rolled his eyes. "Let's move this along."

I followed the man from the room and was greeted by Tino, James, Michael, and Tyler. As I looked around, I could see Lacy speaking with someone-it was Alan.

"Why the fuck is he here?" I asked, growling a little in the back of my throat.

"Calm down, Austin." James sighed. "It's not his fault."

"What do you mean it's not his fault?" I snapped. "He's the one who-"

"You're dumb, Austin." Tino grunted. "He never said anything. He was being blackmailed."

"He was being blackmailed." I scoffed.

"Yes." Alex hissed at me. "He was being blackmailed. By his boyfriend."

"That doesn't make any sense." I sighed, actually getting confused by Alan's actions. Alex raised an eyebrow.

"I know. That's what's worrisome."

I watched as Alan looked over at me cautiously and Lacy turning his attention back to her. There was a loud shout and I turned slightly to look at who was coming into the station. The way Alan looked sick, I knew it was Seth.

"Get your fucking hands off me!" Seth snarled, his shoulders writhing in attempts to throw the policemen off. "I'll fucking end you! Do you know who I am-" His steely eyes locked on me then they drifted to Alan. Recognition filled his worried gaze and he began screaming at Alan.

"I'll get you for this! You no good worthless faggot! You're pathetic! I should have fucking killed you! You're so fucking stupid! You will pay for this! I'll make sure of it-"

"Enough, Mr. Borguet." said a policeman wearily. Seth spat in Alan's direction and the saliva landed on his face before the police men were forced to restrain him and put a mask on Seth. Alan shuddered and carefully wiped the spit from his face with the back of his hand.

I cautiously began to walk towards Alan whose eyes were trained on the floor.

"Alan?" I asked softly. Alan's head jerked up, his mouth twisted in a deep frown.

"I-I'm sorry." Alan whimpered. "I just-I couldn't-and he-"

"It's okay." I said, holding out my arms for him. Of course, I was still upset with Alan for putting me through this mess, but I couldn't blame him. If I was in his shoes, I probably would have done the same thing. Considering Alan's past, he could only depend on Seth. Seth took him in, and Alan was afraid to lose Seth. I still didn't fully understand it, but I was going to at least try for the man in front of me.

Alan buried himself in my arms, sobbing. I comforted him the best I could.

"Dr. Carlile-I didn't mean to-to do it." Alan stuttered, his whole body convulsing with sobs. "I'm sorry, Doctor, I promise-"

"Shh, Alan, it's okay." I coaxed him. "You're okay."

Alan clenched around my waist and he sobbed. I carefully turned him a little so he was clutching to my side and I could see Tino, Alex, James and my lawyers.

"What's going to happen to him?" I asked Michael as he walked over to me to hand me some papers.

"Who? Bourget or Ashby?" he asked quietly.
