Chapter 11

~Clary's POV~
We sprinted into the computer room and all gathered around Jace. He scrolled through some files and clicked on one. An image came up of a man. But his face was blurred out.

Jace pressed play and a deep voice began to speak. "Bring me the one you call Clary. Meeting place is at the docks tomorrow night at midnight. Her alone. No weapons. If she does not comply to these terms, I will kill every last one of her friends."

I backed away from the screen.

"If you don't think I will, then..." he stepped to the side, "Say 'hi' Maia."

She was strapped down to a chair with a gag in her mouth. She had sweat beating down her neck and cuts on her temple.

"Better decide quick and convince your boyfriend, Clary. Or you can kiss everyone you love 'goodbye'."

"Clary?" Alec said and turned to look at me, "Clary?"

"I... I..." I took off to my room. Sprinting down the hallway and almost tripping over a table, I heard Alec calling after me.

I sat on my bed, crying. I knew I had to give myself up to save those I love, but Alec would never let me. He would do anything to stop me.

~Alec's POV~
I stood in Clary's bedroom door and looked at her. She was crying on her bed. "Clary."

"I know what you're going to say," she said in her hands. She looked up, her eyes red and puffy. "You're going to say I shouldn't go."

"Yeah, because I don't know what is going to happen and I can't live with myself if I lost you," I said and sat beside her.

"Then you know how I feel. If I don't go, I lose you," she said and ran her hand through her hair.

"I know what you're thinking, Clary."

"I have to go. I'm sorry Alec but nothing you can say will change my mind."

I wiped a tear off her cheek. I leaned in and kissed her. My hand traveled down to her waist. Her hand slid up my neck and into my hair.

I pulled away, "please don't go." She kissed me and kissed me. "Please."

"Okay. I won't."

She kissed me. And leaned on me. She pulled my shirt over my head and then I pulled hers off. She unzipped my pants and I unclasped her bra.

~Clary's POV~
I woke up next to Alec in my bed. He lay sound asleep with his arm wrapped around my shoulders and his other hand rested on his stomach. His black hair messy and his breathing steady.

I carefully untangle myself from him, careful not to wake him. I got dressed in all black and slipped out of the room. I quietly ran down the hall to the front door. Yeah I had all day before the meeting time, but I had to leave now or I would never get away. I looked back to the institute and left.
