 Author's POV

"Go on up and have your showers." Cheryl shoos her daughters' out of the kitchen, "And make sure to get ready for bed!" She shouts, the Twins already half way up the stairs.

"Evelyn," Cheryl turns around, smiling at the older woman. "You can take the day off for the rest of the night and tomorrow as well."

Evelyn smiles, "Would you not prefer for me to help tomorrow?" She asks, untying her apron.

"Millie wants us to cook tomorrow, so there's no need. Take some time off with your family and enjoy it." She encourages her.

"Thank you, Miss." Evelyn smiles widely, "Let me know if you need anything at all." She collects her belonging and makes her way out of the kitchen and over to the front door. "Good night, Miss." She gives her final smile, allowing Cheryl to walk her out.

"So," Kimberley leans against the kitchen entrance, looking at Cheryl who was still stood by the door. "Who's Megan?" She asks, coolly sipping her wine.

"Are you always drinking, or is that cup just attached to your hand?" Cheryl rolls her eyes and walks past Kimberley, over to the living room.

Kimberley follows. "I'm just curious." She shrugs, taking a seat on the opposite sofa and setting her feet atop of the wooden coffee table.

"You should be worried about more important things." Cheryl picks up the remote and turns off the television. "Like seeing me Mam again."

Kimberley sighs, "I don't understand why you invited them over? So soon?"

"Maisie wanted to meet them, just because youse all have history doesn't mean our daughter can't meet her Mam's family."

"I didn't say I didn't want her to meet them. I'm just saying, it's quite soon. She barely knows you, let alone that god awful family." Kimberley murmurs under her breath and uncomfortably sips her wine.

"You not liking them has nothing to do with Maisie. I wish you'd just grow up and apologize." Cheryl sighs, "Me Mam never got over that, even until now she brings it up."

"For the love of god, I told you it wasn't even true." Kimberley huffs, sitting up and setting her wine glass down. "Why in the bloody hell would I sleep with your cousin?!" She grits, "Your Mam was in on it—"

Cheryl tuts, "Me Mam would never want to ruin us—"

"Your Mam hasn't accepted the fact that her daughter is a fcuking lesbian." Kimberley hisses, "She never liked it. Why do you think we never got fcuking married?"

"What does that have to do with me Mam? And what does that have to do with you sleeping with me cousin, Janet? Why would they lie about that? And after all these years you're still denying it!"

Kimberley runs her fingers through her hair, "Look," She looks at Cheryl, "I kissed her, but we did not sleep with each other. Your Mam had walked in on us just as we kissed. I don't know what your Mam must have paid her to play along with this little fcuking lie, but she did. She and Janet set me up. Your Mam couldn't wait for the day that you would breakup with me and end us. We weren't in the best chapter of our life, during that time." Kimberley confesses, "I was very drunk and very vulnerable. So, I kissed her or she kissed me, but I'll take the blame for it because that was all my fault. But I never, never, ever, slept with her nor would I have slept with her. Your Mam just can't stand me and she would have done anything to break us up, even with the twins in our life." She finishes her sentence, breathing heavily.
