Author's POV
it had been one too many hours of Maisie and Millie wandering that arcade.. and to no surprise Cheryl was on edge, unaware Millie was quite enjoying herself.
Mam: You doing alright bubs? xx
Millie: Yes Mam. we're sat eating. firework show should be happening soon, ok for us to stay a little longer? x
'Looks like the girls will be gone for a little longer.' Cheryl breaks the silence setting her phone down, focusing back to the sun currently setting.
'You always like that with her?' Kimberley asks, keeping her eyes fixated ahead. The water calm, she couldn't remember a time of such tranquility.
'I'm being a Mam, Kimberley. It's a crazy world out there you know.' she sighs, sipping her wine.
'You think I'm a sh*t Mum, don't you?'
'No. but you could be a better Mum. there's always room for improvement.' Cheryl responds honestly. 'it's not hard to have a heart ya'no.'
Kimberley chuckles, 'harder than you think.' she winks, earning a smile off the Geordie. they sit in silence, a comfortable one. both lost in thought of what could have been and what has become.
Although, they will always carry a deep love for each other - it probably wasn't right for them to pursue each other once more. both afraid to completely tarnish what could develop into something wonderful.
Kimberley didn't want to step anymore lines with the Geordie, she was grateful to have her back in her life, even under these circumstances. She knew she messed their relationship up years ago and most likely hopeless to ever think the Geordie would want her back - in this very moment she decides to show Cheryl that she will try to be a better mother.
maybe then she'll see that my love has always been there
The sound of the glass door sliding brings them back to reality, out came Joan, she too holding a glass of wine in hand.
'The girls have been gone for a minute,' she takes a seat on the sun lounger to Cheryls right, leaving her daughter sat between her and Kimberley. 'I'm sure they're causing trouble.'
Cheryl giggles, as does Kimberley.
'Maisie will show Millie a thing or two that's for sure,' Kimberley mumbles before taking a sip, but the older Geordie heard her loud and clear.
'That Maisie seems to be more like her Mum.'
Cheryl sighs not in the mood for their bickering right now.
'What an honor.' Kimberley gasps, sarcastically. rolling her eyes back and settling back into the lounger, trying to keep her maturity level alive.
'Enough, please.' Cheryl silences her Mam before she goes to speak. 'Can we have a moment of silence, just enjoy the sun setting without speaking.'
Joan decides against arguing and shuts up.
Kimberley thankful for that.

'So how old are you?' Caleb asks Maisie. There they sat, surrounded by teens at the beach, ready for the firework show.
of course he had to sit next to us. Millie mentally grunts, annoyed her sister was too busy making googlly eyes with Caleb.
'Fourteen.' Maisie responds, 'You?'
'Sixteen.' He smiles, really infatuated with the teen. she was beautiful, but her personality is what had him hooked. 'How long are you going to be here for?'
