Author's POVMillie, Maisie and Joan sit in the back of the Range Rover whilst Cheryl and Kimberley sat upfront. They had a long drive ahead of them, an awkward one at that. Millie never did like overcrowded spaces and this being one of them. She had a bad habit of shaking her leg when she was uncomfortable and she was feeling uneasy at this very moment.
"How much longer?" Millie asks her Mam, who was currently driving.
"You just asked us, bubs. Three more hours to go."
Millie sighs, looking out of the window.
Joan takes her eyes off the newspaper she was delving through and glances over to her granddaughter, "You gonna stop with that bloody shaking??" She tuts, "You're giving us a headache."
Millie huffs, forcing her leg to rest.
Maisie smirks.
"And what're you smiling at?" Joan bulges her eyes out at Maisie, instantly getting her smirk to disappear.
"Mam, can we stop somewhere?"
Cheryl glances in the rearview mirror, "Like where?"
"For Starbucks or something?" The teen internally takes a deep breath, anxious to exit the Rover.
Cheryl could hear it in her daughters' voice, the anxiety had found its way back. She swiftly switches lanes and takes the first exit off the freeway.
"We can just go through the drive-thru, Cheryl." Kimberley points out, just as the Geordie parked the car.
"No, let's stretch our legs out."
Millie quickly exits the car and darts into the Starbucks, heading straight into the bathroom and locking the door on her way. She takes deep breaths, attempting to get her breathing back to its normal flow.
"You gonna get that kid some help or what?" Joan pierces her lips.
"Not now, Mam." Cheryl sighs, following her daughter and hoping nobody will recognize her in the burgundy baseball cap. Her heels clink their way to the bathroom, where Millie remained taking deep breaths.
