It's been nearly a month since the death of my father. The house is much quieter without him around, He truly was a wonderful man. He was the type of father every father should be.
He was kind, loving, playful, stern. He would always make you happy when you are down. As odd a it may sound, but his hair could brighten everyones day. It was so blond that even if you were in a dark room, his hair could light everything up. Except the day he died. When he died, it seemed that everything good died with him.
Well that's what I thought, until I saw Luke at the funeral. As long as he was still ther for me, everything would be okay.
During the funeral I was obviously crying my eyes out. I literally soaked my handkerchief with my tears and snot. At one point of the funeral my legs gave way. As I was falling, Luke caught me. Once I was upright, Luke gave me a sorrowful smile. I couldn't return it. I just cried into his chest. He simply held me, telling me it was going to me alright.
After the funeral was done, Luke walked me back to my house. We walked in silence . Once we got to my door, Luke said something
"I joined the Hitler Youth" he said. Possibly trying to lighten a mood, that could not be lightened.
I simply stared at him. I knew he was just trying to be kind so I at least owe him a "that's nice" or "congratulations".
"Oh" was all I was able to manage.
He have me a simplethetic look. After a moment of just standing at my door, he gave me a half smile, walked of my doorstep and went home.
But after a month, I feel as if I'm alright now. I mean, I can't turn back time, so I might as well make do with what I have and be thankful. After all I still have Luke.
Speaking of which, while I was doing all this thinking, Luke was telling me about Hitler Youth.
"... Then Hubert ran to get the catch the ring from my team, but I tackled him down first!"
"That's very nice, Luke" I said, slightly annoyed. He gave me a weird look before shrugging it off.
" Hey, Brigitta, can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
" Well, in about an hour, some guys and I are going to give people fliers for the Hitler Youth and stuff. I was wondering if you would want to come along, because the guys I'm going with are jerks." He said, his blue eyes hopeful as he put his hand through his fringe.
"You only want me to come because they're jerks?" I asked, pretending to be hurt.
"No, wait, that's not what I meant... uh"
"I'm joking,Luke!" I said as I playful punching his shoulder.
"Right, I knew that." he said. Sure he did.
"So, will you come?" he asked again.
"Okay, I'll come."

We were currently on the north side of Frankfurt, delivering those leaflets. There weren't particularly many of us. Maybe seven, not including myself.
Luke and I worked as a pair delivery, since I technically wasn't supposed to be here.
" How many more of these do we have to do,Luke?" I asked. It was quite boring just putting leaflets in people's door.
Luke looked through his stack. "About 20 more houses, Brigitta, then we're done"
