I slumped into my comfortable couch after a busy day of work. Thankfully I had tomorrow off, so I didn't have to worry about waking up early. When I decided to take a shower my dogs came running down the stairs and jumped all over me.
"Yeontan! Sangdol! Soonshim! How were my cute babies?" I said.
They all barked happily.
"Did all of you eat?" I asked.
I got off the couch and headed towards the kitchen where I kept their food and water bowls.
They were all empty so I filled the water bowls and felt a soft purr near my legs. I turned around to my large white cat, Kkanji.
"Hello to you too sweetie," I said petting her head.
Her head nuzzled against my hand and she clung to my leg. I picked her up and settled her on the kitchen counter while I prepared her food. Once I gave it to her she ate it slowly while I ran my hand through her soft fur.
What should I do today?
I could always watch some dramas or maybe play Over watch? I was way too tried today.
I ended up deciding to sit on my couch sans my pets with a good glass of Rutherford Hill Merlot.
I cooked some steak and gravy to have with my Merlot. Although it wasn't anything too fancy I loved this pairing. It was like comfort food ever since my father passed away, forcefully pushing his business into my hands.
My phone rang in my pocket while the steak was still cooking so I lifted the phone to hear Namjoon's voice. He was a fellow partner in my business, and since he was older than me I called him hyung.
"What's up hyung?" I asked.
"I just wanted to call you. Is everything alright?" he asked.
"Yeah why?" I asked.
"You just seemed upset when you left our winery," he said.
"Oh it was nothing. Just tired is all," I sighed into the phone.
"Would you like me to come over?" he asked.
"I'm alright for now," I said into the phone.
We made small talk until I cut the phone. I knew Namjoon hyung was trying to make the moves on me, but I didn't see him that way. Not after the first love of my life. My only love.
I sat down on my couch and thought about Jungkook. My heart beat sped up and I put my wine glass down because my hands were shaking. I picked up my phone cautiously, because I knew looking back into the past would leave scars. I went to my photo gallery and went through all my university pictures.
I drank the Merlot while staring at my lover's face. He was honestly my everything. He thought me to be open and friendly with everyone. I didn't mind skin ship and now I craved it. I loved hugging my buddies at work and I didn't flinch away at anyone's touch.
The tears kept falling down my cheeks and I couldn't contain the yell of frustration that was bubbling within me. My dogs came padding down the hall when I yelled and they cuddled beside me.
I got up and put away the Merlot so my pets and I didn't spill it. My missed my footing here and there almost dropping the expensive bottle, so I dragged myself on the floor instead. When I returned to the couch I drifted into a deep sleep with wet cheeks, Yeontan on my neck, Sangdol near my thighs, and Soonshim sprawled over my legs. They were my warmth in this desperate and cold night.
I wished my father didn't die. If he was still alive I wouldn't have left my soul mate that special night.
