Time passed quickly as I was preparing for the new restaurant's opening. Potential staff members were interviewed and appointed. The restaurant itself was built and already colored by my robots. Everything was going as planned and I was satisfied with me work.
"Mr. Jeon a CEO from L'arc has come to see you," my assistant said.
"Alright call Mr. Kim Namjoon in," I said.
She left; and, a few moments later the door opened again.
"Please take a seat Namjoon hyung," I said.
I didn't look up from my informational graphs as Namjoon hyung took a seat before, and that was when I noticed the slender fingers, that I knew from the back of my mind, graze my desk. When I looked up Taehyung's eyes pierced mine.
"I didn't think that I looked too much like Namjoon hyung," Taehyung said.
His lips stretched out into his signature box smile and my walls cracked slightly.
"What do you want?" I asked seriously.
"I just wanted to say 'hello'," Taehyung replied.
"Well I believe your goal has been accomplished. You may as well leave," I said.
I returned to looking at my papers trying to analyze the figures in front of me.
"Jungkook-ah please listen to what I have to sa-" Taehyung started.
"If this is what you came to do just go," I said sternly.
"Jung-" he started again.
"Taehyung I'm warning you. I do not want to discuss the past," I said my voice cracking.
"But plea-" he tried saying.
"Just go! Go, go, go!" I yelled.
I pushed away from my desk and turned away from him. Out of habit I poked my tongue against my cheek in annoyance.
"Is this how it's going to be between us now?" Taehyung asked.
Something about the way he said it broke something in me, but I just couldn't bring myself to forget his rejection.
"This was your doing Taehyung don't forget that," I said.
I wrapped my hands around myself to comfort myself, and I didn't turn around until I heard the scrape of the chair against the floor and the closing of the door. I let out the breath I was holding and fell back against the chair.
The rest of the day passed in a blur with other preparations. At 7:48 PM I parked my car at my house.
"Baby?" I called out.
My daughter ran up to me and hugged my legs.
"Appa! I missed you so much," she said.
I lifted her up into my arms and painted her face and neck with kisses.
"She was a lot of trouble today," Soo Mi said.
"Really was my Jiyeon a naughty girl?" I asked the cute puppy in my arms.
"No I wasn't! Soo Mi is lying," Jiyeon said hiding her face in my neck.
"Thanks so much for taking care of her ahjumma," I said.
"It's my pleasure to take care of your adorable baby girl," ahjumma said.
"I'm not a baby!" Jiyeon said laughing.
Her laugh brought joy into my life.
"Alright you aren't a baby ok? Did you guys eat already?" I asked.
"Yep. I heated your homemade steak over the oven. Although it is wasn't fre-" ahjumma started.
"Don't worry about it Soo Mi ahjumma. Your presence is appreciated greatly" I said.
After ahjumma left Jiyeon and I sat down at the dinner table to finish some coloring sheets. While Jiyeon was drawing a bunny I drew her beautiful face.
"Appa I'm tired," Jiyeon said.
She yawned and I lifted her up from the chair. I carried her up the stairs and her small hands held my neck tightly.
"Appa can I sleep with you tonight? I don't want to be lonely," Jiyeon whispered.
"Of course baby," I replied.
That night I slept with her in my arms. Thoughts of Taehyung came to mind and I couldn't sleep. He was trying so hard to justify his actions, but the pain he caused me to go through would be unforgettable. I never gave out second chances because I knew that I could be hurt again. What should I do with my life?
