Footfalls on wet pavement through puddles of what the downpour had caused could be heard as the woman clutched the baby tight to her bust. The rain was unforgiving as it came down heavily onto the woman and her newly born kin.
The woman did her best to keep her child out of the downpour, but the thin cloth of cheap human clothing did nothing to prevent the water from getting to the baby, causing the infant to cry out and grip its mothers clothing with tiny, dampened hands.
"I know, πολυαγαπημένος. We are almost there, I promise you." The woman softly said to her child. She knew her baby would not understand, but it was more of a reassurance to herself anyhow.
The woman ran along the dark streets of New York City, trying to find the location of which she would drop her child off. She hoped he was there. She hoped he would take in their child with no questions asked. She could not risk the safety of her child; the conditions of Olympus were in a downfall, and it didn't seem to be getting better anytime soon.
This was her last resort. Logan Howlett was the rightful father to Artemis' child, and as of now, while Olympus was in the process of fixing itself—however long it took—he would keep watch over the demi-goddess known as PHOENIX.

EIGHTEEN YEARS LATER
"Motherfucker!" The girl yelled as the engine of her motorcycle failed...once again.
Greatest fucking eighteenth birthday present ever, the girl thought to herself.
"Nixie, baby girl, you ain't ever gonna fix that piece of shit you call a bike with that frustrated attitude of yours," Lafayette yelled towards his little lady friend from the entrance of his bar. The man was getting a kick out of seeing his friend struggle.
Phoenix just let out an irritated growl, ignoring her friend. This was the third time her baby had failed on her.
"C'mon, girl! It's not like you got places to be anyway. Just stay around a little while longer to watch the last fight," Lafayette insisted, regarding the fights that took place every Friday night in the bar that he was bartender for, and the bar which Phoenix visited quite frequently. Not to drink, of course. Sure she's had some shots before, nothing serious enough to effect her, not like it did anyway.
The girl was confused the first time she drank. She consumed more than she was supposed to, and considering her stature, she should've been more affected than what she had felt the next day; it was like the alcohol was never even in her system. She dismissed the occurrence as soon as it happened, but it still itches at her unto this very day.
Lafayette continued his pursuit on the young girl. "Hey, it's not like you got places to be and men to sleep with, hun!"
Phoenix turned around with a smirk on her face at this comment. Lafayette was standing there in all his gay-glory taking up some of the huge doorway to enter the bar. The girl sat down on her bike, crossing her arms with confidence. "At least I get men, bub."
Before Phoenix could get her awaited reaction from her close friend, a downpour of rain started and she ran into the doorway of the bar before she could get her precious leather jacket wet. She stood there with a scowl on her face looking at her bike and flipping off the sky in the process.
Lafayette rested his arm upon the short girl's head and laughed to himself, "Ah, what am I ever gonna do with you, baby girl."
Phoenix pushed the man's strong forearm off of the top of her head charging off into the bar, not before Lafayette laid a slap on her ass, though. To this she turned around and flipped him off with both hands.
Looks like I'm stuck in this damned place for now, she thought.
