My alarm clock buzzed loudly and painfully in my ear telling me to wake up, it took me a couple times before hitting the alarm clock and turning it off. I groaned at the fact that I couldn't sleep in, but today was an important day so I had to get up.
I took a shower and got dressed before going to the bathroom and brushing my teeth. After I was done I headed down stairs to see my foster parents or former, since I was over 18 yet I still lived in their house, sitting in the kitchen
"Morning Diana" I smiled at her and hugged her
"Morning sweetheart, you're up early" she glanced at me with a smile she always seemed to have
"That's because today is a rather important day, as much as I hate calling going to college important" I grabbed a piece of toast from the toaster
"Yeah but I still didn't think you'd be up, but here you are being all responsible and stuff" still had that same smile, I always wondered what made her so happy all the time so I decided to take a look into her head
I can't fully control my powers, but I've gotten the hang of some of it. I knew I had telepathy and telekinetic abilities but that's about it.
I looked into her head and saw me when I was little, it was when she adopted me, I was the reason that that smile appeared on her face everyday. All the memories flashing through her mind of us. She was there when my father past, I had nobody and everyday from that point on I made sure to thank her and appreciate everything she has done for me.
"LIAM!!!"
I was sucked back into reality and apparently she had been calling me multiple times
"Huh" I took another bite of my toast
"You were in my head weren't you?" Still smiling
"Maybe"
"What have I told you about that young man" she said
"I'm sorry, but I had to know why you were smiling so much" I smirked but it quickly disappeared
"Well did you find what you were looking for?" She raised her eyebrow
I didn't respond, I only got up and gave a tight hug "yes" I was smiling hard
"Thanks for taking care of me for all these years and for not freaking out when I told you about my gift/abilities".
"You're welcome, I'm glad I got to watch you grow up all these years, your father would be proud to see the man you've become." "Now let's get going so we won't be late. It's a 2 hour drive and you don't want to be late for your first day". She grabbed her keys already out the door
"Oh wait Diana I left something up stairs and I need to go get it" I yelled loud enough so she could hear me
"Make is quick" she yelled back
I ran back up the stairs and into my room, I grabbed a box of things I wanted to take a with me. I walked back go the door and turned around, memories started flashing through my head, the good times and the bad times. Memories of Diana always being there for me whenever I was sad, hurt, whenever I needed help with homework, when I was nervous about my first date and girlfriend, she even helped me pick an outfit for my senior prom. I took one last glimpse of the room when I heard the horn of a car beep, I got out of my thoughts, shut the door to my room and quickly hurried downstairs and into the car with the box.
