Chapter 1
"Alli, hurry up! We're going to be late to Elizabeths house!"
That's my mom, Patricia. Elizabeth is her boss and we have to go help her pack her house up so she can move to the house right beside ours. I've never met Elizabeth but my mom says she's nice.
"Coming, Mom!"
I put on a white crop top with American flag high-waisted shorts and my white Converse All Stars. I put my long, blonde hair into a high, messy bun and put makeup on.
I ran down the stairs to my mom and she gave me the "I told you to get ready an hour ago, why don't you ever listen to me" look so I avoided any more eye contact and went to the car.
My mom got in the car and started it up.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yea, I guess." I sighed.
-----
We pulled up to Elizabeth's house and there was a guy that looked about my age playing basketball. He was cute from what I could see.
He had long brown hair, the young Justin Bieber cut, and was wearing a blue tank top with khaki shorts and long Nike socks under gray Vans.
"That is Hayes. He's Elizabeth's youngest son. He just turned 14." My mom interrupted my thoughts.
"Oh, cool." I nodded and the guy came over to our car.
My mom lowered her window and the guy smiled. I could see his sweat tipped hair, but barely.
"Hey, Patricia. What's up?" He breathed.
"Nothing much, Hayes. Should we come inside and start packing?" my mom asked.
"Sure."
He opened the door for my mom and then ran over to my side and opened my door.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"No problem. I'm Hayes."
"Hi, I'm Alli."
"Pretty name for a pretty girl." He smiled.
I could feel my cheeks burning.
"Oh, thanks. But not really." I laughed.
We started to his house and then a little girl came out of the back door with a pink tutu and a horse shirt.
"Hayes! Hayes! Help, Nash took my horsey." She cried.
Hayes laughed.
"Well, let's go get your horsey back!" He said.
"Want to come?"
"Sure." I giggled and we ran inside house.
We went up the stairs and took a left at the top.
"Shh! We don't want Nash to hear us." Hayes smiled at the little girl and I and then busted the door open.
"Skylynn wants her horsey back!" Hayes tried to tackle a tall guy with brown hair, but the taller guy (I'm guessing is Nash) picked Hayes up, put him on his shoulders, and tossed him onto the bed. They were both wrestling and laughing and I just kind of stood there, awkwardly.
After Hayes got Nash off of him and got the doll horse that was in Nash's hand, he came over to Skylynn and I.
"Here's your horsey." He smiled at Skylynn.
"Thank you Hayes." She pulled him down to her level, kissed his cheek, and ran off.
"Sorry about that." Hayes laughed.
"Oh no, you're fine." I giggled.
"Everyone come downstairs!" someone, I'm guessing Elizabeth, called to us.
"Okay!" Hayes called back and we both went downstairs.
"Hello, Alli. I've heard a lot about you. You're even prettier than your mom tells me!" a slim woman with wavy hair came over to me and smiled.
"I'm Elizabeth, how are you?"
"Um, I'm good." I smiled and Hayes laughed.
"Sorry about her, she's always really happy." he whispered in my ear.
"It's fine." I whispered back.
"Well, let's start packing! Alli, you can get all of the pictures around the house and put them into these boxes." Elizabeth said.
"Can I help her, Mom? Just so she doesn't get lost." Hayes asked.
Elizabeth smiled. "Of course you can help, Alli. I wouldn't want her to get lost in this small house." she said, jokingly, and I blushed again.
Hayes' face got red and he picked up the boxes.
"C'mon. Let's go." I giggled and he smiled.
We went around the house getting pictures and I found a baby picture.
"Aww, is this you?" I asked.
"Yea. I was a chubby baby, wasn't I?" He laughed.
"Yea, but it was a cute kind of chubby." I smiled.
He pulled up his shirt and squeezed a little bit of his stomach.
"Is it still a cute kind of chubby?" he asked.
"It's barley chubby at all!" I laughed and pulled his shirt back down.
He has crazy abs.
"But is it cute?" He laughed.
"Ehh, not really."
"Hey! I'm going to get you for that one!" He said and I screamed and ran off, laughing.
"I'm coming!" He said as he grabbed my waist and pulled me back into a bear hug. He picked me up and tossed me on his shoulder.
"Let me go!" I punched his back gently and laughed.
He took me into a room and set me down on a chair and ran out.
"Hey! Come back!" I giggle-yelled.
I got up and started looking for him. I looked in the closet, under the bed, and then I went into the hallway and he popped out behind a curtain.
"Boo!" He yelled and I screamed.
"That's not fair! I didn't know you were out here." I laughed.
"Now that you do, are you happy you found me?"
He grinned.
"Ehh, not really." I said again, jokingly.
"Don't make me chase you, again." He laughed.
"I won't, but only because we have to finish packing the pictures. Not that you could catch me."
I smirked and looked at him over my shoulder.
He looked at me and grinned.
"Is that a challenge?"
