Fox awoke to feeling wet in his bed, Sora must've done it yet again.
But that didn't make sense because he remembered putting a pull-up on the boy before they'd all gone to sleep.
He'd developed a bed wetting habit after the whole Buckingham incident and insisted on sleeping in between Fox and Ahnisti every night.
Fox slowly opened his eyes and found Sora and Ahnisti staring at him with dead eyes.
"What the..."
He pulled back the covers soaked with blood, their blood, and screamed when he saw it.
"NO!! Yuno I need some help here!! YUNO!!"
He turned around and found his ally nailed to a wall by a katana.
"Yuno..."
"So sorry, we wanted to wake you but you were sleeping like a baby."
Jan and Charlie stood at the foot of his bed, covered in his family's blood and grinning at him.
"And now, you shall meet the same fate."
They moved to impale him with their weapons while he just sat their wide eyed and prepared for instant death.
He opened his real eyes and found himself dripping with sweat and his heart pumping like a piston in his chest.
A dream. It was another fucking dream.
Like Sora's bed wetting habit he'd started having nightmares everytime he slept, and it was always about the same thing.
"Damn it..."
It had only been three days since their failed attack on the palace and honestly they were looking worse for wear.
For the longest it was just the four of them taking on the world but now it seemed that the world was taking them down one by one.
A whimper brought him back to reality.
He looked down and saw Sora stirring in his sleep while he made little scared noises and pained facial expressions.
Poor little guy was having a nightmare too. You'd think that an assassin would have no nightmares but then again he was still a four year old boy.
He pulled him into his lap and rubbed his back while he held him close to his chest.
Why was he doing this? How did he know to do this? Hei.
This was Hei's subtle influence, and he hated it.
Every fiber in his being was just screaming at him to throw the boy down and let him work it out for himself but then there was that one part that was dominate, the part that was making him hold the boy and actually care about him.
"What have I done..."
"You care about him."
Ahnisti rolled over and rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she sat up.
"I see how you are with him. You can lie and say he's nothing to you but a tool but those interactions you two have can't be faked."
"I didn't ask for your opinion."
"And I didn't ask to love him too."
"What?"
"Yeah, I love him too Fox. I think I've known that for awhile but I was never able to say it out loud."
"Well technically you're whispering."
"I hate you."
"You love me."
"I do, but God you piss me off."
"Then I'm doing my job."
"You both piss me off."
They both looked over at Yuno who gave them a tired smile.
"Yeah I'm up."
"Sorry if we woke you."
"If that was sleep then please feel free to wake me any time."
"That bad huh?"
"...What the hell are we going to do Fox?"
"Something that none of us want to do but have to."
A few hours later there was knocking on the door that roused Cain and everyone in their room from sleep.
When the knocks continued, Cain got out of bed and opened the door only to find Fox there looking incredibly pissed.
"Hei what are you-"
"Fox, and we need to talk. Now."
A few minutes later they were seated on the edge of the rooftop and staring at all the beauty London had to offer.
"This isn't how I imagined we'd visit the United Kingdom."
"Yeah well fate had other plans for you two. Sorry to get in the way of that."
"You wouldn't be in the way if you just came home."
"Can't. I'm not Hei and I need you to finally get that."
"Fox whether you like it or not you two are the same person, two sides of the same coin."
"Whatever you say."
"I see how you look at your son. You think that's you who's incapable of love and only feels hatred? No, that's Hei. You're losing control and soon he'll be back and you'll be in the dark again."
"...I know. And that's why I need your help. Cain they're going to kill us if we don't kill them first. I can't let them bring any harm to my f- team."
"What do you want me to do?"
"I hate to say it but if we're going to take them down, I'm going to need your strength."
"And in return?"
"In return I shall relinquish control of this body and you'll have your precious Hei back. On the condition that you watch over Yuno, Sora, and Ahnisti."
"How do I know that I can trust you?"
"Hei and I have this in common, we're both men of our word. I know you're the same."
"...very well, I accept your terms."
"Excellent."
"So what's our first step?"
"Knowing the enemy better than they know themselves. I need everything on them. Birthdays, medical records, anything that can give us one over them."
"Jay can handle that, the man's a fuckin drug fiend but he's an expert at what he does."
"You're trusting a junkie to help us with our mission?"
"You trusted him to patch your son up."
"...Fine."
Moments later Cain entered his room with Fox and his people tailing closely behind.
"As you know, we all came here for one reason and one reason only and that was to stop H- Fox from making terrible decisions. We failed but now he and his family need our help. They're being hunted by an elite group of killers that were able to subdue them within minutes. But we believe that if we all join forces, we may have a chance at beating them and getting out of this alive."
Cain scanned the room and knew that his speech was taking hold but they needed just another push to get them fully into it, and Fox knew this.
"I know...you all came here for Hei and I'm sorry but he's just not coming back right now. But I need you help to protect what's closest to my heart and I'm sure you all can relate to that. I'm not Hei but I'm asking you as someone who loves his family to please help us end this once and for all."
One after another, everyone smiled and nodded in agreement. They were in, and nothing was about to stop them.
