Jan felt the bullet rip through his chest and exit out his back, putting him in excruciating pain and on the ground.
Cain wasted no time and walked over to the man, shooting him in his ankles and kneecaps when he got there.
Jan groaned and hissed from the pain of being shot multiple times.
"You're done Jan, it's all over."
"*cough* A senbon? That's creative."
"I got it from a friend, a friend I can't wait to see again. Too bad you'll never get to meet him."
"He sounds lovely."
As the blood pooled underneath him, Jan did his best sit up but ended up propping himself against the railing of the bridge.
"So this is what defeat feels like? Is it wrong that it feels kind of nice?"
"Not at all. That nice feeling is called freedom Jan, I think it's something you lost a long time ago when you sold yourself to keep up a lie."
"I suppose you're right."
At that moment Yuki, Ellie, and Yuno appeared on the scene and approached them.
"Yin and Zach have been dealt with and it seems you've handled Jan. That only leaves my brother and Charlie."
Jan's eyes widened at Yuki's words but he chose to say nothing and instead lowered his head.
"Jan."
He looked up and saw Yuki crouching in front of him.
"Your brother loved you and spoke highly of you to the very end. You should be proud of him."
"...heh, look how far I've fallen. Here I am enjoying the kind words of an enemy when I should be kicking myself for losing to you....thank you Yuki."
"Hm."
"If there is a god, I hope he'll take pity on me and let me see him one last time before I suffer for all eternity."
Cain put his gun away and crouched next to Yuki.
"Jan trust me when I say you two will be together for a long time. You've got a lot of explaining to do and all the time in the world. Just...take your time and tell him the truth."
"And if he hates me?"
Yuki smirked and pat his shoulder.
"There's no way."
"...thanks. Word of advice though, Charlie isn't like us. He lacks a moral compass and has the highest tolerance for pain that I've ever seen. You won't be able to connect with him like you did with my brother and I. He's a monster."
"Don't worry about us, we have our own monster."
Fox's hit the ground yet again after another clash with Charlie.
The boy giggled like he belonged in a psyche ward as he licked blood off his weapon again.
"You can't beat me asshole, just sit there and lit me kill you."
"Never. Unlike you I have something to live for."
"You're right, and once I'm done with you I'll go and destroy that something."
"Tch...brats like you piss me off."
Fox got up once more and gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and dashed toward the eight year old.
Charlie smiled at him as he hopped out of the way of his attacks and started unleashing his own. The only difference was that his were connecting.
Finally Charlie ended it by slashing Fox across the hip, which sent the man to his knees.
"You're old. You're weak. You're irrational. And that's why you're going to die by my hand. You, your friends, and that precious little brat of yours. But first, how about a little target practice?"
Charlie pulled out multiple knives and started throwing them all in Fox's direction.
He didn't have enough time or strength to react so he just focused on shielding his face and chest with arms and sword.
One after another, the sharp pieces of cold steel entered his body and made him groan.
"Now there's a pretty sight. But this one, this one's the coup de gras."
Fox growled as Charlie pulled a hunting knife out of his sleeve and ran it across his tongue.
"Bye Fox."
"Fuck you."
Charlie threw the knife and Fox just his eyes while he waited for pain and the inevitable death that would follow.
But it never came, instead there was only a few droplets of something warm on his face.
He opened his eyes to see something that he'd never hoped he'd have to.
"S-Sora..."
Sora had jumped in front of the blade at the last second and caught it in his chest.
The boy's mouth began to drip with blood as he fell back into Fox's arms while Charlie just stood there smirking.
"And here I thought I'd have to drag him out."
Fox carefully pulled the knife out of his chest and applied pressure to the wound while the boy struggled to keep his eyes open.
"How did you...why did you..."
"I followed you guys...the moment you left. Jay's an idiot so he didn't even notice...I was waiting to surprise him but you got hurt and...I couldn't let him kill you."
"Shh don't talk just relax and I'll get you out of here."
"You know it's too late for that...in a few moments I'll be gone."
"No. No I'm not listening to this. You're gonna be fine, I promised you that remember?"
"I remember you pulling out a knife and putting it away because you couldn't kill me. I remember you having sex with mama in front of me when you thought I didn't know. I remember falling asleep to you giving me the talk. I remember giving you a hard time during bath time, sorry about that. I remember you and mama talking about how much you loved me when you thought I was asleep. And I remember you freeing me from that cage and my own despair....that's what I remember daddy."
"I-"
"You have to win."
"I can't."
"You can...I know you can because my daddy is the strongest there is. You just have to...to...."
"Sora?"
"..."
"Sora? Hey Sora? SORA?!"
"About time, I thought he'd stay forever."
"No...no goddammit no!!"
"Don't worry, I'll send you to him right now."
"I'M GONNA PAINT BIG BEN WITH YOUR FUCKING BLOOD KID!!!"
Charlie giggled and ran towards Fox ready to deliver the final blow but found himself kicked back by Cain and Yuki.
"Sorry we're l-"
Cain saw Sora in Fox's arms and decided to turn his back to the scene and continue on with fighting Charlie.
"I'm sorry Fox."
Fox was at a loss for words and instead settled for placing his head against Sora's as his mind went blank once more.
