"why the hell are you here?"

harry was standing at niall's doorstep, a weak and nervous smile on his face. his hands were buried in his pockets, and he was rocking back and forth on his heels.

"can i come in?"

"absolutely not!"

"i want to make up for what happened."

"oh, on our not-date? i don't think you can ever make up for what happened."

"just let me talk, please!"

"no, harry, no! i get that you misinterpreted that it was a date, and i've had a lot of people do that, but you called me gay!"

"don't try to pull that 'i'm not gay' bullshit on me again."

"watch your mouth."

"you're the one who used the word 'hell' earlier!"

"that's not that bad of a word. google it, it's not an actual curse word."

"i'm pretty sure you're wrong."

"harry, i'm always right. first thing you need to know about me."

"you're not right about your sexuality."

"i'm open minded."

"i know why you wanted to get with my sister."

"oh, i'd love to hear why."

"you're trying to prove to me and yourself that you're not gay."

"there's nothing to prove."

"don't even."

"please get off my doorstep."

"not until we resolve this! i'm not letting you use my sister as some type of toy to help you figure out your sexual orientation!"

"harry, leave!"

"i'm not leaving until you understand what i have to say!"

"i'm straight, okay?"

"yeah, as straight as a circle."

niall's hardened expression softened slightly.

"get in the house."

"thank you."

niall led harry into his house, taking him to the living room where harry sat in a chair and niall sat on the couch.

"harry..."

"yes?"

"i'm confused. i'm so confused."

"you like guys. what's there to be confused about?"

"everything! i was that kid who told my friends that a girl kissed me and i was happy about it! i was that guy who made bets with my friends to see how many girls we could pick up. i was always that guy to hit on the female waitresses, and the one who shamelessly flirted with girls in front of their boyfriends. i'm not supposed to be gay!"

"niall, how many girls have you slept with?"

"what?"

"you talk about hitting on girls, trying to pick them up, and flirting but you never said that you actually enjoy the girls."

"of course i do. i love the female gender."

"but do you love it like you love the company of males? oh, and you still haven't answered my question."

there was silence in the air as niall thought.

"one."

"what?"

"i've only had sex with one girl in my entire life."

"did you enjoy it?"

"harry! that's personal!"

"did you?"

"no."

"why not?"

"i didn't like the sounds she made. and her private area smelled bad."

"it doesn't smell like peaches, niall."

"yeah, but it was horrible! i thought maybe if i could get with other girls i'd enjoy it but i don't even like the feeling of their lips!"

"niall, it's okay to like girls but not want to be romantically interested in them."

"it is?"

"yeah. same thing with boys."

"b-but... i want to be romantically interested in boys."

"oh, so you're finally admitting it?"

"er, harry?"

"yes?"

"can you come back to my place tomorrow? i need to think about this, but i'd like to have another talk with you. maybe it doesn't need to be about whether i like dudes or not."

"okay. i'll see you tomorrow then, niall."

"bye harry."

"bye."

"oh, wait!"

suddenly, niall had his arms wrapped around harry in a tight hug.

"thanks harry."

"uh, you're welcome."

harry had come here to apologize about the not-date and ended up knocking some sense into niall. this was not how the visit was supposed to go, but harry wasn't complaining.
