my mouth gaped open as i stared at the black, smoking plane. i was breathing heavily, due to running across the large room to the huge window. Luke stopped beside me, breathing a little less heavy than me, but still heavy.

"this is so cliché." he grumbled. i would've smiled, if not for the situation we were in, right now. i stared out the window as the flight crew attempted to control the flames. sirens rang out in the distance as the fire patrol raced to get here and put out the fire.

not knowing what to do, i just stood there, watching as the big red truck pulled in and put out the fire before the men went into the plane to search for survivors. but i already know that they won't find anyone alive. not even Brandon. i sat down heavily in the plastic chair that made your butt go numb quickly. i watched as the men slowly filed back out of the plane, shaking their heads sadly.

there.

i shot to my feet in amazement. right behind one of the firemen who was stepping out of the plane had one lone survivor tailing behind him. he was a little black from smoke and his clothes were singed from the fire. he had burns on his cheeks and hands, but he was there.

Brandon was alive. and the first this i was going to do was kill him. i was going to get a blood test to confirm what that boss had said and then i'll go from there. if it's negative, i will kill him. if he's my brother, i will kill him, but only figuratively. i watched him walk to the waiting EMTs and they all flocked him, sitting him down in the back of the ambulance and checking him over.

i looked around, spotting the exit to the runway. i ran towards it and i could hear Luke following me. i swung the door open, and ran to the ambulance. i got to it and looked at Brandon. he glanced over at me and smiled softly. i stared at him in awe and confusion.

"how the fuck did you survive that?" i blurted out.

"language." one of the female EMTs hissed. we ignored her.

"i ran into the bathroom, as far away from the bomb as i could. i didn't expect it to work, to be honest." he said, looking just as surprised as me that he was alive.

"we need to get a blood test." i stated, my tone and expression dropping to emotionless. his eyes swiveled back to me from the EMT who was trying to study him. they were wide and filled with shock.

"why." he asked. well, he more said that asked, but he still did it.

"you know why." i narrowed my eyes at him, daring him to lie.

"who told you?" he whispered.

"the man who gave you the bomb and gun in the basemen of the strip club."

"you were there?" he sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "of course you were."

"you can go now. you'll be fine, but make sure to clean your burns every night and morning." the EMT said before Brandon hopped down from the back of the ambulance.

"come on." he said. i followed him and Luke walked next to me and gripped my hand tightly.

we stepped into the office and sat on a chair each, waiting for the doctor to come in. Noah and Luke were in the waiting room and we were getting our blood test before we headed back home. my knee bounced up and down impatiently and i glanced over to find that Brandon's knee was too. we both stopped and stared at each other, humor glowing alight in our eyes.

"alright. blood test. i'll take your blood sample and then it'll take about twenty minutes for the machine to process it." the doctor came in, holding a clipboard. he put the clipboard down and picked up one of the two needles on a tray on the counter. he turned to Brandon who held out his arm obediently. he made his hand into a fist and the vein in the crook of his elbow popped out, faintly visible. the doctor used a wipe with alcohol and cleaned off his arm before sticking the needle into the vein, taking no more than a few drops. he turned and squirted the blood into a small cup and then grabbed a new needle, turning to me.

i slipped off my leather jacket and held out my arm for him, balling my hand into a fist. he poked the needle in and i watched, fascinated as the blood dripped into the container of the needle thing. he pulled the needle away and wiped away the extra blood beginning to drip down my arm. he wiped it off again and put a Band-Aid over it, just as he had done to Brandon. he left the room with the samples and didn't come back for at least forty-five minutes. longer than he had said, the asshole.

when he finally did come back, he held his clipboard and was flipping papers up, glancing at them all before finally stopping in front of us and looking up. his face was neutral and i was jittery, which i never was. i was nervous, because if Brandon was my brother, then i had to look at my brother's face and remember that, the first time we met, he betrayed my best friend, kidnapped me, and whipped me, leaving long, big white scars along my back and on my face.

"there's good news and bad news." he said. we waited for him to continue, but he left us in curiosity for a minute.

"the good news, is you're related. you're brother and sister! the bad news, is that when the blood processed, your blood alerted the police. they'll be here any minute now." he said, nodding to Brandon.

"wait what? why?" he asked.

"your blood was found at a crime scene in Hawaii and now your a wanted man."

we stood up and ran, finding Noah and Luke before we tore out of the clinic and to the airport.

we boarded a plane and headed home.

Brandon was my brother.
