Chapter 5

Friday , 6:00 pm , Riverdale

Archie's P.O.V
Veronica and I hadn't really talked over the past three days and I don't know why. It was as if she was avoiding me and it really started to piss me off. She didn't come to school today to tell Jughead, Betty and I, what time we will be going to the lodge, that's if we were still going.  I heard my phone buzz to see that it was a text from Ronnie. 'Meet me at Pop's? x' it read. Jughead came back to my house after school and I told him about Veronica and I, well, tried to. "Jug, man are you even listening?". He quickly put his phone down. "Yeah, yeah something about you saying to her that her relationship with her dad looked bad, blah, blah, blah". I raise an eyebrow to what he just said. "Well do you think I shouldn't of said that, like since I did she's been off with me". "Well, I think you shouldn't get in the middle of hers and her dads relationship as it might not end well with you" he said as he took a bite of his burger. "Wait what, where did you even get that burger?" I ask in confusion. "Where do you think, Pop's". Shit! I was supposed to meet Veronica in Pop's. "Look Jug I gotta go, why don't you invite Betty round so you're not lonely.". "You sure?". "Yeah just, my rooms off limits because, well you know why" I say laughing. I get out the door and take my bike and ride down to Pop's. It didn't take me long as I live quite near by it. I walk in and look around the booths, I finally spotted a raven haired girl sitting at the booth reading her book. "Hey babe" I say as I give her a kiss on the cheek. "Hey" she says. "What's up?". "Nothing, I was just reading my book waiting for my Archiekins." she said. I lower my head and sigh, "Ronnie, is there something wrong with us?" I ask. "What? Where did that come from?". "Well I mean you've been off with me for the past few days and I have no idea what I've done wrong" I say. "Archie you haven't done anything wrong, it's just things with my dad". "I thought you said that everything was fine?" I question. "Yeah it is fine". "Then why'd you say-". I was cut off by Veronica who was now raising her voice. "Can we just stop talking about my dad! Look I have got to go, sorry to cut this short." She says grabbing her things. "Ronnie...". I clasp onto her hand. She looks down at our hands and looks up into my eyes. "What Archie". I try to think of an excuse.  "Uh you haven't told Betty, Jug and I what time we are going to the lodge." As I say that, she unclasps our hand. "10 am, so don't be late getting to my house, goodbye Archie". I look at her in disbelief as she walks out of Pop's. I was in shock about the situation that just went on, clearly she wasn't fine with her dad or she wouldn't of snapped like that. I walk out of Pop's and start to ride home, thinking about Ronnie. I unlock my door to see Betty and Jughead on the couch watching a horror movie. " Heyy" they both say. "Arch what's wrong?" Betty asks. "It's just things with Veronica, I've obviously done something to upset her but she won't say what.". "Do you want me to talk to her?". "I would say yes, but you talking to her might make the whole situation worse. Oh and by the way, we are leaving at 10 am to go to her lodge tomorrow so get there early.". "Okay, then I think we should head home Jug". "Yeah, see you tomorrow Archie, hope you and Veronica can sort things out for tomorrow, we don't particularly want to hear you two arguing all weekend" Jughead laughs. I hear them shut the front door and I sit down and think. I grab my phone and text Ronnie.

Friday, 9:00 pm, Riverdale

Veronica's P.O.V
I knew I shouldn't have snapped at Archie, he was just trying to look out for me. I just can't bear the thought of anything bad happening to my mom because of me. If we had stayed in New York, my mother wouldn't have to fear for her life, especially since dad has started drinking again things can go terribly wrong. I'm so stupid, I always make everything about me, why do I always do this. I start to cry, my mascara running down my cheeks. I put my head in between my legs and started to squeeze them hard until I heard my phone buzz, it was a text from Archie.

Archie Hey Ronnie, I know you said everything was fine but I know it's not. U know u can talk to me about anything right. I'm always gonna be here 4 u, I promise. If you aren't ready to talk yet that's fine, I'll stop pushing, but just know I love u and I will never stop loving u x
~ End of text messages~
I sit there staring at the text he sent me. Old Veronica would have bolted by now. He doesn't deserve me, he shouldn't have to worry so much about me. All that might I was in and out of my sleep. Scared to face Archie the next day.

Saturday, 6:00 am
I looked at the clock, it was 6 am. I decided that there was no point of me trying to go back to sleep so I got changed into some sports gear and went out for a run. The air was cold and it felt nice and the sound of the birds chirping was music to my ears. As I was running, I approached a familiar house. It was Archie's. I stopped and looked at the door. After standing there for about 5 mins I had gotten enough courage to knock on his door. It was silent, I was just about to turn away as I heard the door open. "Veronica, are you alright?". "I'm sorry Mr Andrews I didn't mean to bother you at this time of the morning.". "Oh it's fine I was up anyways, you here for Archie?". I pause for a moment. "...ye- yes". "He's upstairs sleeping, but I don't think he'll mind if you're there, come in". I walk in and take off my trainers. Fun fact, I actually loved trainers, I just didn't wear them because none of them would match my outfits. I walk upstairs to Archie's room. I open the door, trying to not make to much noise. His room was actually really clean for once. I saw him asleep in his bed, breathing softly. I smiled to myself and started to walk over to the bed. I realised I had just been running but I couldn't be bothered to look for anything to spray myself with, he just had to deal with it. I climb over the top of him and go to the side of the bed which was free. I wrap his arms around me and I feel him shift. "Ronnie? What are you doing here" he said in his husky voice. I turn to look at him and I give him a kiss on the lips and snuggle into his chest. "Ok, I mean I'm not complaining" he chuckled. "Archie". "Hmm?", "I'm so sorry for everything, you don't deserve me. I've never had a relationship like this and I'm trying to get used to it.". I say. I feel his arm wrap around me tighter and he kisses my head. "Ronnie, I do deserve you, you keep me on my toes and I like that. You aren't afraid to be yourself or stand up to anyone, even me" he laughs. "I love you, Archie" I say as I snuggle back into his arms slowly drifting to sleep. "I love you too" he says faintly before falling asleep too.

Archie's P.O.V
I startle as I heard my alarm go off. It was 8am. I stroke the side of Ronnie's head to gently wake her up. "Hey Archiekins". She glances at the clock. "Ugh, I have to go, as much as I want to stay here in the arms of my beau, my bag can't pack itself." She says. She gives me a kiss and proceeds to get out of the bed. That's before I pull her back down into my arms. "Archie! Fine, 2 more minutes" she giggles. I love her giggle, it's so damn cute along with her smile. She was the prettiest girl I'd ever seen, I was so lucky to have a girl like this come into my lif-"Archiekins, you're staring". I snap out of my head and come back to reality. "Hehe... oh". She playfully slaps me and gets up. "I will see you at my house soon". "Can't wait, Ronnie". I kiss her goodbye then get out my travel bag. I packed light as I don't really need to pack too much other than the essentials. I got showered and put on some clothes. "Hey dad" I say. "Morning son, off to the Lodges?" . "Yeah, ill text you when I arrive at their lodge".

I arrived at Veronica's apartment and of course, was last in. "Okay dad, I don't want you to have Andre follow us everywhere, he drops us there and picks us up Sunday at 7 pm, okay?" She says. "Yes mija, Archie can I talk with you for a second." He says. "Yes, sir". I walk into his office and he takes a sip of his drink before speaking. "Now, Andre will stay with all of you at the lodge but he won't be in sight. Don't tell Ronnie as I don't want her weekend to be ruined.". "Of course, Mr Lodge". "That's all, have a nice weekend" he smirks. As I walk out I see Veronica waiting for me. "What was that about?" She asks. I didn't want Ronnie to be mad or even know that I was still working with her dad so I lied. "He was just talking about the lodge and how I should take care of you, that's all". "Aww that's so sweet, well c'mon, the others are waiting". It crushed me to lie to Ronnie, especially since we were on good terms  again. I open the door for Veronica to get in then I shortly follow after. As I look back I see Hiram glare at me. At this point, I wasn't just scared about Veronica finding out I lied, but if I didn't do a good job like Hiram had asked. I tried to put that aside me and I prepared myself for the 2 hour long journey ahead of me.
