He wandered through the forest, looking for his prey. He could only imagine the look on his prey's face as it saw him. He wandered deep into the forest and suddenly stopped.
He heard singing.
He glared and followed the sound of the voice. He was met by a lake and a giant, (even by his standards) oak tree. On one of the lower branches, he saw a human woman doing something in her hands. He approached her and she just kept on singing to herself. When he finally got close enough, he cleared his throat.
The human woman sighed and looked up. She looked at him and raised an eyebrow.
"You're not from around here, are you?" she asked as she went back to her craftsmanship.
He internally flinched. Wasn't she bothered by his presence? None whatsoever?! He glared at the tiny woman. "Do you know who I am?" he asked.
The woman looked him over again "Yes," she said, "You're the man who was sent to kill me, and yet here you stand, not killing me."
"Who are you?" he asked threateningly.
"I'm the traitor to the giant crown. You know, the one who didn't have enough medicine, so the queen died and it apparently was all my fault even though the stupid king wouldn't let me leave... That whole 'she's a traitor!' and 'she killed the queen' bullshit. Yeah, that's me."
He glared at her nonchalant face, "You don't look like a threat."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Neither do you and yet you've killed hundreds of people while I have only been accused of killing one. I guess looks can be deceiving." She looked at the setting sun and sighed. She stood up and put whatever she was making in a rucksack. "Well this has been a lovely talk, but I have places to be, family to see, you know... the usual stuff."
She ran and lept to another branch, "See you around, Nathaniel." With that, she smirked and went off into the woods, leaving him speechless.
What the hell was that?!!
